CHAPTER 5

309 Words
As they continued to walk, Emily felt a sense of sadness creeping in. She knew that her time in Ocean View was limited, and she didn't want it to end. She looked over at Alex, wondering what he was thinking. "I know this might sound crazy," Alex said suddenly, "but...what if you didn't have to leave? What if you stayed here with me?" Emily felt her heart skip a beat. "What do you mean?" "I mean...what if you stayed in Ocean View? With me?" Alex said, taking her hand in his. "I know it's a lot to ask, and we've only known each other for a short time, but...I can't imagine my life without you in it. I know we have something special, and I don't want to let it go." Emily felt a wave of emotion wash over her. She had never felt so wanted, so cared for. She knew that Alex was right – they had something special, something worth fighting for. "I...I don't know what to say," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Say you'll think about it," Alex said, pulling her into a tight embrace. "I don't want to pressure you, but...I just had to tell you how I feel." Emily felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She knew that she had to make a decision, and soon. But for now, she was content to just be in Alex's arms, under the stars, feeling like anything was possible. The days flew by for Emily and Alex. They spent their time exploring the town, trying new restaurants, and soaking up the sun on the beach. Emily couldn't believe how quickly the time was passing. She had been in Ocean View for two weeks already, and her heart was torn between staying with Alex and going back home to her old life.
