CHAPTER 6

One evening, they were sitting on the beach, watching the waves crash against the shore. Emily had been quiet all day, lost in thought. Alex knew something was bothering her, and he finally worked up the courage to ask. "Is everything okay?" he said, his voice gentle. Emily sighed. "I just can't stop thinking about what you said the other night. About staying in Ocean View with you." Alex looked at her expectantly. "And...what are you thinking?" "I don't know," Emily admitted. "I mean, I love it here with you. But I have a life back home, you know? Friends, family, a job...I don't know if I'm ready to give all of that up." Alex nodded. "I understand. But...just think about it, okay? Don't make any decisions until you're sure." Emily leaned her head on his shoulder, feeling grateful for his understanding. They sat in silence for a while, watching the stars twinkle above them. Eventually, Alex spoke up again. "Hey, I have an idea. How about we take a trip? Just the two of us. Get away from here for a little while, clear our heads." Emily looked at him skeptically. "Where would we go?" "I was thinking...New York," Alex said with a grin. "I have some friends there, and I could show you around. It would be fun!"
