Lillian's POV.
I stumbled back, my pulse racing as those blue eyes held mine captive.
"Mate," the word echoed through my soul once more, louder this time.
No.
Sergio had been my mate, or at least, that was what I had always believed. Yet standing this close to this stranger, I felt something I had never experienced in three years of marriage.
With Sergio, I had learned to crave his affection, but with this man, my entire soul seemed to recognize him before my mind could even understand why.
My wolf grew desperate to get closer to him, and the word Mate echoed through my mind again, filling me with undeniable certainty.
The stranger's body went completely still, his hand closing around my wrist, firm but not painful, as he pulled me closer.
Those impossible blue eyes searched my face, mirroring the same shock racing through me.
“You felt that too,” he growled.
His jaw tightened, and for a brief second, something vulnerable flashed across his face before it disappeared beneath a mask of control.
He reached for me, but I instinctively flinched away.
“Running already?" A faint smirk tugged at his lips, but it never reached his eyes.
"Stay away from me,” I whispered, even as my body betrayed me by leaning toward him.
"I'd like to," he admitted quietly. "Trust me."
"This shouldn't be happening," l muttered.
He took one step back instead.
"Then leave,” he warned.
Every instinct screamed for him. Every memory screamed for Sergio's betrayal.
One part of me wanted to push him away.
The other wanted to disappear into his arms and forget the last twenty-four hours had ever happened.
I hated myself for wanting comfort from a stranger.
If there was one thing I noticed, it was the reek of alcohol clinging to him. My nose wrinkled as I shoved him back and straightened myself.
My gaze darted toward the entrance, widening as I remembered Sergio could find me at any moment. I needed to get the hell out of here.
“Move,” I snapped, trying to keep my voice steady.
He planted both hands on the wall, trapping me in. His eyes burned into mine.
"And what if I don't?" he asked quietly.
Neither of us moved.
The air between us grew unbearably heavy. Every breath drew us closer, as though an invisible force refused to let us remain apart.
"Don't..." I whispered, though I wasn't sure whether I was speaking to him or to myself.
His jaw tightened. "I'm trying."
But the bond was stronger than either of us. In that moment, I finally understood why people said the full moon made the fated mate bond impossible to resist.
When our lips finally met, it wasn't a choice, it was surrender.
“Not so fast, darling,” he murmured.
I ignored him, dragging him in tighter, my body aching for more. His hand skimmed over me, teasing, he pinched my n*****s, my breath caught in a gasp.
“Get in my car,” he ordered, his lips grazing my ear. “We’re going to my lodge.”
I should have refused. I should have walked away. Instead, I found myself following him, every step stealing another piece of my will.
The ride was a blur. The moment the lodge door shut, I was in his arms again, kissing him like I’d die without him.
Clothes scattered across the floor, he pressed me against the wall, his mouth on my neck.
I moaned, my fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer, begging without words. Every touch sent fire racing through me, every kiss left me aching for more.
The only thing I wanted was to scream his name until he made me come.
The ache deep in my core had turned sharp, almost painful. I was so wet my thighs slipped against each other with every restless shift.
He said nothing at first, just watched me. His dark brows drew together.
A soft flutter moved through my chest when he leaned in and whispered, low and rough,
“I will make you cum.”
My mind drifted back to the image Sergio’s mouth on Melissa. Annoyance flared hot. Under my breath I muttered, “I hate you, bastard.”
“Are you thinking of anyone else, sweetheart?”
His hand cracked across my ass, snapping me fully into the present.
My eyes darted to his broad shoulders and a hard, carved chest. I licked my lips, wanting to trace every ridge of his abs. This wasn’t my first time, yet something about him made me ache for him in a way I never had before.
“Your body needs mine,” he groaned. “I’m going to make it all better.”
He was nothing like the i***t who had cheated on me. My fated mate could make me wet with nothing more than a look. Sergio and I had needed porn just to get me wet and still, he betrayed me.
My fated mate leaned down and took my mouth in a hard, searching kiss. When he pulled back he grated,
“You were made for me, darling.”
His eyes dropped to my breasts, lingering as if they were something precious. The intensity left me feeling exposed, vulnerable in the best way.
He stepped back, raking both hands through his hair until it was even messier. My chest rose and fell faster as he closed the space between us again.
Then his fingers hooked into the waistband of my panties and tugged them down, over my thighs, my knees, my calves, my ankles, until they dropped to the floor.
What’s he going to do with me? Anything he wants, I realized. And the truth was I would let him.
Fresh wetness slicked my thighs. His jaw was strong, his cheekbones sharp. Those watchful blue eyes held me as he groaned and dropped to his knees.
He lunged forward on his elbows and dragged his tongue straight up the center of me.
A scream locked in my throat. My vision blurred.
“Ah—!”
He had licked me there. A new, wild sensation gathered low in my belly, like a storm ready to break.
My fated mate worked me with slow, deliberate care, gentle suction one moment, the flat of his tongue rolling side to side the next, then quick, teasing flicks that made my hips jerk.
“Oh god… yes…”
The words tore out of me, half moan, half plea.
“Please… don’t stop…”
