"Hello, baby," he said, cupping her cheeks through her slacks.
"Bobby, I'm sorry," she said to him, right away. "I'm so sorry."
"Hey, what about?" he asked, feelia sense of relief. He had not been planning to say anything about Sally, though he did feel like being somewhat apologetic to her, because he knew what she had done.
But here she was, apologizing to him about something, and he didn't know what. But whatever it was, it eased the tension he was feeling.
"I just got home from work two minutes before you. I didn't know that it was going to turn into a full day. But Joe just got overloaded and asked me to stay later."
"Hey, that's okay," he laughed. "As long as he pays you for the time you worked."
"Oh, he pays me all right," she said, laughing. "But I didn't have time to put the
