~ Three days later ~
After Luke’s episode, Ally, Jack, Cas, and himself all head to Colorado to take care of a possible Shapeshifter case. A shapeshifter is a type of Demon that can copy a human beings genetic make up, and they have a crazy amount of strength. After each death is discovered, the victim is seen a week later, robbing a new bank each time. When the mayor is killed, the shifter makes the mistake of robbing the same bank twice, while Jack and Ally are there questioning the witnesses.
“Did you notice anything strange about Mrs. Holland?” Jack asked.
“You mean aside the fact that I was at her funeral the day before she robbed my bank? Not really. She was incredibly strong for a hefty woman. Pale as porcelain. But one thing that did stand out were her eyes. Bright, bright green. She had brown eyes. I grew up with her so I would for sure be able to notice that. Other than that, she seemed the same. Is that helpful?” Mrs. Danby said.
“Yes thank you. Please give us a call if you remember anything else.” Ally said as she handed the woman her card.
Lucas walks in with a curious look on his face, wondering what they were told. “Anything useful?”
“All the info points right to a shapeshifter. But no one ever discovered the slimy skin suit. This thing is covering its tracks.” Jack says. Seconds later, his phone rings. It’s the police department.
“Agent Cole? It’s Officer Johnson. There’s been a sighting of the mayor just ten minutes ago, heading down Maine. Thinking he might be on his way to the Royal Bank. Only problem with that, is that his body was found in his home early this morning. Are you close?”
“Actually, we’re right inside. Thanks for the heads up.” Jack hangs up the phone. “Looks like mister Mayor might be on his way here... they found his body this morning. Ally, get as many people as you can out the back door. Luke, keep an eye on the front. I’m gonna go warn the bank attendants.” Jack says as he turns around towards the tellers.
“Excuse me? Hi. So the Mayor was seen heading this way. One of you will have to stay out here so he doesn’t suspect that you all know. The rest of you, leave out the back door and get away from here.” Jack says as he waits for someone to volunteer.
Mrs. Danby steps forward. “I’ll do it. I was here when he robbed the bank a few days ago, I’ll be more prepared this time.” Another woman stepped up, nodding her head but saying nothing. They both walked over to their desks, and waited.
Ally comes back with her silver blade in hand, and just at she says that everyone is out, Mayor Michael walks in, bearing his face to all. He walks into the middle of the room, gun in hand, and says “I believe you all know why I’m here. Don’t push any buttons, as you will all be dead before anyone arrives. Do as I say, and you might survive.” Not seeing the hunters around the corner, Mrs. Danby stands up, and says;
“Right this way Mr. Michael.” She leads him into the back room where the safe is, and Lucas looks to Ally and says;
“Al, stay out here. Jack and I will go back there and if he escapes, you’ll be here to stop him.”
“Why don’t we all go? We have a better chance if the three of us go. And he probably wont expect me to be there.” She looks at Jack, hoping he agrees.
“She’s right man, three is better than two.” Jack says. Lucas starts to walk away and says;
“Fine. We don’t have time. Lets go.”
Quickly but quietly, the guys follow Ally towards the safe. They stand just outside of it on either side, with weapons in hand and a view of the Mayor. They storm in and with Jack striking first, the shifter throws him into the wall.
“Jack!” Ally and Lucas shout in unison. Jack gets back up, and all three of them charge at the shifter. After a short battle and the mayor is in Ally’s grasp, Lucas thrusts his blade right into the mayors heart. With the shifters eyes burning like red-hot coals, he bursts into ash, and they all take a heavy breath.
“What the hell was that?!” Mrs. Danby says in a panic.
“That, was a shape shifter. A type of demon. The legends you’ve heard about monsters and demons and angels? Yeah. All true. But you’re fine now. He’s gone. Try not to tell anyone about this, okay?” Ally says as she helps the woman up off the ground, leaving her hand on her for reassurance.
“Who are you guys?” She says.
“We’re hunters. We track these things down, and kill them.” Lucas says as he wipes the blood off of his blade.
“Oh.” Mrs. Danby says softly.
After helping with the clean up, explaining what happened to the police, and hopefully convincing everyone who witnessed the event to keep quiet about everything, the group heads out. All three of them climb into the ‘79 Impala, and head toward the Grand Inn Motel.
They get out, bags of food in hand, and head to the front desk. “So, two rooms or three?” The clerk asks.
“Three. Thanks” Lucas says. He pays for the rooms with his credit card and they all head to the rooms. Ally walks away, giving her bag and key to Jack, and says “Beer run. I’ll be back.”
Lucas smiles and says “awesome” under his breath. Jack overheard him say that, and gives him a look with a raised eyebrow.
“The beer, or the girl?” Jack says.
“Beer, duh.” He says as he walks towards his room.
“But really though Luke... What’s going on with you two? Is it just a fling?” Jack said as he catches up to him.
Luke sighs. “I’m not really sure what you’re talking about.” He said as he closed his door behind him. Jack opens his door, and he hears Ally call out his name.
“Jack! Wanna go for a walk? I’ll set the beer in your room for now. Got a few things I wanna get off my chest.”
Jack sets the beer in the fridge, and locks his door. “Sure. Is there a park around here? It’s nice out.” He says and he heads down the hall.
“I didn’t see one, but there’s a garden out front with a bench. Maybe bring two beers to go.” she says as she stands by his door.
Jack grabs the beers and they head out to the garden. “Have you talked to Lucas at all?” He hands Ally a beer, and she cracks it open as they take a seat on the bench.
“Yeah. But he brushed me off and didn’t say anything. Did you guys talk much after his seizure?”
She sighs. “No... not about that anyways. We both decided not to take it further than a kiss. A big part of me wishes it never happened. I know I’m not in love with him or anything like that, but I still care. Maybe it’s just because I’ve been alone for a long time and he just happened to be there when I felt vulnerable. I just don’t want things to be awkward.” She sighs again as she stretches out on the bench.
“Maybe you should tell him that. Be honest with him.” He sighs.
“Yeah. Maybe you’re right.” She takes a swig of beer, and looks up at the sky.
“Let’s walk around a bit. We have a lot of catching up to do.” Jack says as he stands up.
Ally takes another sip of her beer, and stands up. “Yeah. Things have been a little crazy.” They walk around for a few hours, touching on different subjects, and making up for lost time. They didn’t really get the chance to do that when Ally decided to work with them, as there was always a new case to take care of.
Eventually, Jack says “Come on, let’s go back. You have something to do.” Jack starts to walk back, and Ally follows.
She stands in front of Lucas’ room with a case of beer in her hands, and takes a minute to think. “Here goes nothing.” She puts her hand up, ready to knock on his door, the other holding the case of beer, and immediately stops herself. She hears a woman’s voice. One shes never heard before.
“I’ve seen the way you’ve been looking at me tonight. I had a feeling I would end up with you.” The woman said in a low, smooth voice.
