Chapter 3

1087 Words
After weeks of hard work, Sarah and I had finally finished the project we had been working on. We were both exhausted but thrilled with the results. To celebrate, Sarah suggested we go out for some drinks at a nearby bar. I hesitated for a moment - as the director, I felt like I should be setting a good example and not drinking on a weeknight. But then I decided to go for it - after all, we had a lot to celebrate. The bar that Sarah had chosen was one that I had never been to before. It was a cozy little place, with dim lighting and a relaxed atmosphere. There were a few people scattered around the room, chatting and laughing over drinks. Sarah and I found a table in the corner and ordered some cocktails. As we sipped our drinks, we talked about the project and all the challenges we had faced along the way. "It was tough, but we did it," Sarah said, beaming with pride. "And it's all thanks to you, Adelaide. You really led the way." "Thanks, Sarah," I replied, feeling a sense of gratitude. "But it was a team effort - we couldn't have done it without everyone's hard work." As we chatted, I noticed a man sitting at the bar, nursing a drink. He was tall with dark hair and a rugged look about him. I couldn't help but feel drawn to him, and I found myself stealing glances in his direction. Sarah noticed my wandering gaze and nudged me playfully. "Looks like someone's caught your eye," she said, winking at me. I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. "What? No, I was just...looking around," I stammered. Sarah laughed. "Come on, Adelaide. You're single and ready to mingle, right? Why not go talk to him?" I hesitated for a moment, feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement. But then I decided to go for it - after all, what did I have to lose? I got up from the table and walked over to the bar. The man looked up as I approached, and our eyes met. "Hi," I said, trying to sound casual. "Mind if I join you?" "Sure, I'd like that," he replied, his voice deep and smooth. We started talking, and I found myself drawn in by his easy charm and quick wit. We talked about everything from our favorite movies to our dreams and ambitions. As the night wore on, I felt more and more comfortable in his company, like we had known each other for years. As the bar started to empty out, the man turned to me and said, "You know, I don't usually do this kind of thing. But there's something about you that I just can't resist." I felt my heart skip a beat at his words. Despite the nerves and uncertainty, I knew that I was having a great time with him. As we said our goodbyes and exchanged numbers, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. Maybe this was the start of something new and exciting - a reminder that even in the midst of hard work and stress, there was always room for a little bit of fun and adventure. As the days went by, I found myself thinking more and more about Andrew. We had exchanged numbers at the bar and had been texting and talking on the phone ever since. He was a successful businessman with a sharp mind and a great sense of humor. I was intrigued by him, and I couldn't help but feel excited about the possibility of something more. One evening, as I was sitting at home, my phone buzzed with a new message from Andrew. "Hey Adelaide, how's it going?" he wrote. "Hi Andrew, I'm good, thanks for asking. How about you?" I replied. "I'm doing well, thanks. Just finishing up some work for the day," he said. We continued to chat, talking about everything from our favorite foods to our travel experiences. I found myself opening up to him in a way I hadn't with anyone else in a long time. There was something about his easy demeanor and genuine curiosity that made me feel comfortable and at ease. "So, tell me more about your work," I said, curious about his career as a businessman. "Well, I work in finance," he replied. "I help companies manage their investments and make smart financial decisions. It can be challenging, but it's also really rewarding." "That sounds interesting," I said, feeling a sense of admiration. "You must be really good at what you do." "I try my best," he said, laughing. "But it's not all work - I like to have fun too. What about you? What do you like to do in your free time?" As we continued our conversation, I found myself opening up to Andrew in a way that I hadn't with anyone else in a long time. He was easy to talk to, and I felt like he genuinely cared about getting to know me. "Well, I love to read," I said, smiling. "I always have a book with me, no matter where I go. And I also enjoy hiking and exploring new places." "Reading and hiking, huh? You sound like my kind of person," he said, grinning. We talked for a while longer, sharing stories and getting to know each other better. I felt a sense of comfort and ease around him, like we had known each other for years. As we said our goodbyes for the night, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. Maybe this was the start of something special - a new horizon that I had been waiting for. As I lay in bed, thinking about Andrew and the conversations we had shared, I couldn't help but feel a sense of hope and possibility. It's new to me but I know Marcos is moving on even if I don't have any news heard about him. Even though I had been single for a while because I don't know if my love for Marcos would die down, it felt like anything was impossible without him by my side. But, it's been years, I know he's happy with his new life. I don't know if he and that girl is still in a relationship. And as I drifted off to sleep, I knew that I was ready to take the next step and see where this new journey would lead me.
