Chapter Ten - Part Three

328 Words
When Ada returned to the table, the girls were watching the bar and seemed a little more subdued than normal. She set their drinks down and looked at them. “What? What’s wrong?” she asked. Rachael looked over Ada’s shoulder and said, “There’s a hottie at the bar who couldn’t take his eyes off of you.” Ada quirked an eyebrow. “Please, don’t be dramatic.” “She’s not.” Lisa said, she looked over at the bar again and ducked. “Oh, my GAWD! He’s still looking!” “His companions are just as equally hot. Hmmm.” Astrid looked at the companions contemplatively. “You all need to let Ada drink her alcohol in peace.” Mari said laughingly. “Yes! I got shots for us!” Ada said, putting the shots in front of each of the women and sliding into her seat. They raised their little glasses and yelled in unison, “Kanpai!” then knocked the alcohol back. After a few more minutes of quabbling, Abigail announced to the group. “Guys. I think all three of them keep looking over here.” “We’re loud and disruptive. Of course, they are.” Mari said dryly. Ada busted out laughing. Ada looked over at Astrid and groaned. “Oh no. You have a gleam going on. Are you going to ditch us for one of the guys?” she asked. Astrid’s smile grew. “No. But you are.” In response, the girls whooped and cheered, then quickly collected themselves. “Yeeeeees!” Rachael purred mischievously. “No! You guys know I don’t do well with the opposite sex.” “No, you don’t do well with relationships because commitment leaves you vulnerable. But we know you do great with s*x. We’re not telling you to go ask him to be your boyfriend. We’re just saying go have one night of fun before you leave.” Ada covered her face in embarrassment. “Gawwwd you guys. I’ll never get over that. Why did you all let me think the walls were better soundproofed all those years?” The women erupted in laughter again.
