2.5 Years Before
Ada's throat hurt.
That was the first thing she noticed.
Then she noticed how gritty her eyes felt. She tried to blink, to work away whatever it was that was irritating her eyes. But her eyelids were so heavy, they wouldn't open. With a groan she brought her hand to her face to rub her eyes. Except her hand only moved an inch then stopped. She couldn’t move it any further. She moved her other hand and found it couldn't move more than an inch, also. She felt an edge of something bite into her wrist as she gave her hand another tug. Again, she couldn't move her hand far, her tugs were accompanied with a sting on the tender edge of her tendons in her wrist.
