The Unstoppable Titan

Peter Garrett was born with a neurological condition called CIPA which prevented him from feeling pain. Despite being freakishly tall, It was hard for him growing up because people abused his condition by beating him and treating him like a test dummy. Even though Peter couldn’t feel the beating, it still hurt his feelings because they were just making fun of something he couldn’t control. Peter’s mother ‘Mary’ was a therapist and she tried helping him as much as she could; It was no help. She stressed a lot about her son’s future every second of every day. Mary sent Peter to many Christian camps to help teach him that he wasn’t alone and that people were there for him. James Garrett was Peter’s drug-addict father, he was always in jail and was never around to provide for his family. James ended up passing away due to all the bad things he had put in his system. James ’ last words to Peter were, “The monster isn’t who you think. It has claws”. Mary and Peter thought he said something random because of everything he had in his body; James was a bit loopy and high. The older Peter got the simpler it was for him to make friends. He had a huge house so it was easy for him to have huge parties and invite a lot of people over. The house was a 2 story house with an in-ground pool and a large balcony. The inside of Garrett’s house was a simple wooden theme with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the downstairs was a huge room that everyone would want to hang at. Peter met the girl of his dreams at one of his house parties; She was about 5’4 with brown hair, green eyes, and a lean body. This girl’s name was Alexandrea Richards or ‘Alex’ for short. Alex and Peter went through Middle and High School together; They were star-crossed lovers. After their High School graduation, Peter and Alex rented an apartment together. Peter went on to peruse a career as a boxer while Alex went to college to get a degree in software engineering. After college, Alex and Peter got married and had a huge wedding. Mary paid for most of the wedding since her therapy job paid very well. Multiple years went by and Peter became a professional boxer. The amount of wealth he received from his career was insane. Alex and he moved out of the apartment and bought a large house with all their money. The only downside to being a boxer is that Peter had many injuries. For instance, someone dislocated Peter’s shoulder and since he couldn’t feel pain he kept punching and using his shoulder. Being able to not feel pain comes in handy for Peter when it comes to fighting, but he has a high risk of hurting his body more by using his body parts that are broken. Peter gained so much fame by winning dozens of fights, he thought he was unstoppable since he had never lost a fight, well that’s until one night. On December 5th, 2021: Peter was ready for the biggest fight of his life. Alex and his mother Mary were sitting in the crowd ready to support him during this match. Scott Daniels walked into the ring and was ready to fight Peter, the fight was long and brutal. Scott was trained very well and he was beating the crap out of Peter. Peter threw a great punch, the only the crowd heard was a loud snap. Peter’s arm was broken and he wasn’t going to be able to fight for a while. He tried to keep fighting but he had to forfeit because he didn’t want to screw up his arm even more. The doctors took a look at his arm and decided that he wasn’t allowed to fight anymore. Alex didn’t take the news very well because she knew they’d lose all their money. The big house and cars they owned were going to have to be sold since they didn’t have the money to pay for them anymore. She decided to go behind Peter’s back and get divorce papers. Peter came home one day and saw the divorce papers laying down on the counter. “What the crap Alex, you’re divorcing me because I lost my job?!?” Peter said furiously. She replied, “You don’t have the money I want anymore so I’m leaving”. He took the news hard and realized Alex was a gold digger; She knew his family was wealthy so that’s why she went to all the house parties. It all started piecing together, Alex never loved him. Peter told his mother what had happened. She said she’d give him a place to stay but that her new boyfriend did not like Peter very much and wouldn’t allow it. It took Peter a minute to realize but he found out he was homeless. All he had left was a backpack, a sleeping bag, and a coat. The next few months were hell; Peter had to dig food out of the trash can because he had no money and nobody helped him. His mother had passed away from cancer a few weeks before and her boyfriend refused to give Peter any financial support. “I lost my job, my wife, my parents, my house, I’ve lost everything important to me,” He said to himself out loud. He tried keeping it together but he was hopeless and about to give up on life. His eyes had tear drops building up in them like he was about to lose them. “I can help you. I can give you one of my extra rooms but in return, you have to help me test my next science experiment,” a man replied from his right. The guy walked over to Peter and grinned. Peter did not trust this scientist character so he politely declined the offer. He was given a phone number to call just in case he ever changed his mind. The next few weeks were even worse; It was storming nonstop and everything was wet and cold. Peter shivered and thought he would end up getting hypothermia from the weather. He reached into the pocket of his coat and pulled out the small piece of paper with the phone number written on it. Peter got up off the ground and ran into the nearest phone store. He waited until nobody was watching and he typed the number into one of the display phones that were in the store. The scientist answered the phone and soon came to pick up Peter. The car that the man was driving was a light gray van with a lot of scratches on the sides of the vehicle. “Hop in Pete,” said the scientist right after he popped open the passenger door. Peter climbed into the van and shut the door. They soon began to discuss the details of the so-called “science experiment” that the scientist said Peter had to be in. “I am trying to help humanity and by doing so I need to upgrade the peak characteristics of a human. All of my tests have been a success but I have yet to start human trials, this is where you come in,” The scientist said to Peter. “What kind of upgrades?” Peter asked confused. The man grinned and told him that the details would be revealed once they got to the laboratory. They drove a few miles until they made it to the middle of nowhere. There were no buildings or anything other than hills and grass; The scientist pulled a lever on the car which made a secret entrance appear inside one of the hills. As soon as the van went into the entrance the passage way closer behind them. “It would suck if we ran out of gas and got caught in the closing of the entrance. We’d all get crushed in an instant,” The scientist said grinning again. The inside of the hill looked so fancy and futuristic; It was completely white and had a bunch of glass rooms all along the sides. Peter saw many experiments as they walked through the laboratory. There was a proton fuser, a force field projector, and a large machine that had fluids connecting to a glass chamber about 7ft tall. “See that chamber? That’s where you will be placed whenever I upgrade you and make you more powerful,” The scientist spoke. “What will make me more powerful?” Peter asked. “Your body will have more stamina. Everyone wants super strength or speed but you need the energy for your muscles to be allowed to do those things. Stamina is the energy that’s needed for them, that’s the most powerful and important aspect,” The scientist explained to Peter. Peter opened the glass door of the chamber and stepped into it. He shut the door behind him and tried not to think because he was already regretting his decision to trust the man he hardly knew. He crossed his fingers and hoped for the best. The liquids on the side flooded into the chamber and it completely submerged Peter in it. The chemicals were lit up like a light and they were drawing power from the walls. The chamber started sparking and eventually caught on fire. The liquid was soon absorbed by Peter’s body. The scientist grabbed the fire extinguisher and rushed to put out the fire that was on his machine. He opened the chamber and asked if Peter was alright; He was soon reminded by Peter of the fact that he couldn’t feel pain. “We will complete a few test runs to see if the power is activated or if the machine even worked,” The scientist said. “I’m going to need to train you to see if it did work; I know a lot about the increased stamina considering I spent 3 years researching it and I built a machine that gives the ability single handily,” The scientist also said. They both shook hands and agreed to work together as partners. Peter was put onto a treadmill and was told to run for hours without a break; He succeeded and lasted 6hrs before he needed to catch his breath. Peter also was able to stay in a top pull-up position for hours at a time. He trained and trained trying to push his limits They did multiple more of the test runs and they found out that the experiment did in fact work, and it was even better than predicted. The energy in Peter’s body was extraordinary; the scans showed that he had enough stamina to run up to 400 miles nonstop without the need to catch his breath. Peter opened his eyes widely because he had just gotten the best idea ever; It was like a lightbulb cut on in his brain. He wanted to find a way to train and be the best version of himself that he could be. This power could be the chance for revival that he needed in his life; Peter finally had hope.
