CHAPTER 51-AN OLD FRIEND

1538 Words

DAISY POV I watched Ethan's back for a long time. He did not say a word. He did not move. He just remained in the spot for a long time. Only the sounds of our heavy breathing echoed throughout the space and for the first time, I felt his pain. "E— Ethan," I called. He released a shaky breath before resuming to place each foot before the other. I wanted to ask him how he was doing. I wanted to know what was hurting him but I did not dare to say a word. I only followed him quietly. Eventually, we reached an opening into a wider space, deep within the cave. There was water flowing through right before us. He stopped before it and rinsed his face. I watched him quietly with unanswered questions. When he was done, he walked back to me and stopped. "You still don't remember me, do you?"
