KYLE'S POV
The moment I burst into Daisy's room, I confirmed my greatest fears - the b***h was my mate. Her scent was all over the place and as much as I hated to admit, I was drawn to it. Too bad she had escaped through the window.
I knew that there was no way she was surviving a fall from that height. That could only mean one thing - she had an accomplice that helped her escape. My mind went to Ethan at once and my wolf growled in my head. I was going to skin the bastard alive when I met him.
I tore down the stairs, mad with rage and I bumped into Zac on the way.
"Woah. Watch where you're going!" He growled.
"Daisy!" I snarled. "She's my mate!"
Zac stared at me like I was crazy and then he burst into a prolonged laugh like it was funny.
"You think I'm crazy?" I snarled.
"You are crazy," Zac nodded. "Remember mum told us that since we're triplets, we'll be sharing the same mate. If Daisy is your mate, then she's mine too. How come I haven't picked her scent yet?"
"Look, I hate this even more than you do," I grunted. "But it's the truth. We have to find her!"
"Well, I saw her running off with some wolf," Zac shrugged.
"Ethan - " I growled.
"- And I sent Bryan to keep an eye on her," Zac continued.
My pupils dilated at that moment and instantly turned blood red.
"You sent who to what?"
"Don't raise your voice on me," Zac growled.
I stared hard at my elder brother, wondering how dumb he could get. How could he have sent Bryan of all people to keep an eye on her? Bryan, the weakling? Even Daisy could overpower him!
"Our brother is in danger," I muttered. "You can decide to sit here if you like. I'll go find him."
With that, my bones popped and I shifted into my wolf. I sniffed the night air for a while and as soon as I caught Bryan's scent, I barrelled in the exact direction.
I followed the scent deep into the woods and soon, I found Bryan's bike. The sight of the bike, hurriedly parked at a clearing in the woods made me go on full alert at once. His scent was stronger there, alongside Daisy's and another unfamiliar musky scent which I guessed was Ethan's. They had been there a few minutes ago.
"Bryan!"
My voice echoed deep in the woods, but there was no response. I kept walking, and sniffing until my eyes caught sight of a trail of blood on the floor. I followed the trail at once and just as I expected, it led me straight to him - Bryan.
He lay on a blanket of brown leaves, that had been stained red with his blood. His eyes were closed and when I placed my ears on his chest, I discovered that he was barely breathing.
"Bryan!" I gasped. "Are you okay?"
I heard the sound of a car screech to a halt and I turned around to see Zac running towards me. He stopped right in front of Bryan's limp body and crouched low on the grass.
"Bryan!" Zac shook him vigorously. "Is he alive?"
"This is all your fault!" I snarled. Tears were glistening in my eyes already. My little brother was dead.
"Let's take him to the pack doctors," Zac suggested. "They could so something."
"Can't you see he's not breathing!" I cried. "What would they do?"
My heart was pounding fast in my chest and I could feel the heat begin to rise in the pit of my stomach. Anger clouded my senses and I stood up in a fit of rage.
"Ethan," I snarled. "I would find the bastard and I would kill him."
"We don't even know what happened yet," Zac sighed.
"Yes I do!" I cut in. "Ethan killed our brother and ran away with our mate!"
"Then we can handle him later!" Zac said. "For now, we have to save his life."
Bryan coughed, spluttering blood all over my face, and I held him up in my arms.
"He's still alive!"
"So we should get him to safety first," Zac suggested. "And then, you can go on your killing spree later."
I nodded in agreement and hunched Bryan up on my back. Zac led me to the car and I carefully lay him down on the back seat. His eyes were still closed but his breathing was a bit regular.
"Come on," Zac urged me. "Let's take him to the doctor before it's too late."
I entered the car and Zac zoomed off in the direction we had come from. A few minutes later and we had gotten to the pack hospital. The whole place was rowdy but I called for two nurses who wheeled Bryan on a stretcher to the emergency room.
They stopped at the door of the room and turned to meet my gaze.
"My princes," they chorused. "You know the rules. You cannot follow us in here."
"Nonsense!" I growled. "I want to see the doctor."
They stepped aside as I pushed the door open and came face to face with the Doctor, a bald headed man in his early fifties. He wore a worried expression on his face when he saw me walk in.
"Prince Kyle," He muttered. "You don't seem to be in a very good mood."
"My brother was attacked," I growled. "I want to watch you fix him."
The Doctor nodded and turned his attention to Bryan who lay limp on the stretcher. He assessed him for a while and bit his lips.
"How did this happen?" The doctor asked all of a sudden.
"I just told you that he was attacked!" I growled. "What more do you want to know!"
The doctor heaved a deep breath and removed his glasses.
"I hate to break it to you that your brother has sustained a mortal wound. This must have been inflicted on him by a beast or something even worse. His healing rate is slower than expected of Alpha blood, and if he continues to heal at such a slow rate - "
He lowered his voice. "- Then he might not make it."
In a flash, I had the doctor pinned to the wall, my claws extended over the nape of his neck and my canines ready to rip his flesh apart.
"Then what is my father paying you for?" I hissed in his ears.
"Your brother's life can still be saved, my prince," He muttered. "But it's an almost impossible situation."
"Talk!" I growled.
"To speed up his healing process, we would need his mate beside him - "
I let go of the doctor's neck at once and turned to meet Zac's gaze.
"Daisy," I muttered under my breath. "We need to find her."
Zac nodded slowly and I crouched low on the floor to meet Bryan.
"I promise you that we would find her and save your life," I whispered in his ears. "And when you are in one piece, I would kill the bastard that did this to you!"
