CHAPTER 6 - AN ENCOUNTER WITH THE ROGUES

836 Words
DAISY'S POV The image of Bryan's bloodied body, lying still on the grass lingered on in my head as I tore through the woods. I wondered if he was going to survive it. I really hoped he did. He was the nicest of the triplets, the only one I could actually tolerate. He definitely didn't deserve to die like that. I muttered a prayer to the moon goddess to spare his life as I tore through the woods. I had been running for more than five minutes now, and I had still not caught up with Ethan yet. I briefly wondered if he had abandoned me in the woods but I killed the thought immediately. Ethan had protected me from Kyle the bully. There was no way he was going to leave me in this dangerous woods. I ran on, determined to find him and just then, I heard the sound of a twig snap from a distance. My ears perked up at the sound and I spun around in search of where it had come from. "Who's there?" I muttered, looking around cautiously. The sky was ink black and the only source of light that night was the moon, gleaming in the clouds. Suddenly, a new wave of fear washed over me. I shouldn't be in the woods at this time, and all by myself. I had to find Ethan before it was too late. "Ethan!" I called. Another twig snapped behind me and I spun around, alarmed. Someone was watching me and I knew it. "Ethan?" I tried again. "Is that you?" I squealed in horror as I felt cold bony fingers wrap around my wrists and before I could scream again, a heavy hand went over my mouth. "Shhhh!" Ethan warned. "You'll get us killed." I sighed in relief at the sound of his voice and he removed his hand from over my mouth. "I - I - I've been trying to follow you - " I stuttered. Tears rolled down my eyes as I spoke and Ethan wiped my eyes dry with his hand. "Don't cry now, Daisy," Ethan warned. "I promise I'll get you to safety. You just have to trust me." "What's happening?" I asked, with tears in my eyes. "Why are we running? Will Bryan live?" "I'm sorry," Ethan muttered under his breath. "I didn't intend to kill him. I did it to protect you." I believed every single word of what he said. I knew that Ethan was there to protect me. He just didn't know that Bryan was no threat. Now, things were going to be much more complicated when Kyle and Zac found their brother half dead on the floor. "What are we going to do now?" I muttered. "We'll run away, Daisy," Ethan replied, his eyes brightening up immediately. "We would escape to my pack and no one would be able to get us there." All my life, the only thing I had prayed for was to find my mate and leave the Silver Moon Pack for good. A few minutes ago, I had found my mates - the Triplets, and now, I had the opportunity to leave the Silver Moon Pack for good. But I couldn't leave just like that. I needed to make sure Bryan was okay. "And Bryan?" I asked. "What would happen to him?" "We have to save ourselves first, Daisy!" Ethan grunted. There was a hint of frustration in his voice and I couldn't blame him. We were in a very dangerous territory and I was still worrying about Bryan. Truly, we had to save ourselves first. "Alright," I nodded. "But we would come back for him later?" "Probably," Ethan shrugged. "We could talk about that later?" I nodded again and Ethan placed both hands on my cheeks. "I'm doing this to protect you, Daisy," He said. "I promise that where I'm taking you, no harm would come upon you." I knew I could trust Ethan. He was my guardian angel. "Okay," I muttered. "Let's go." Ethan led the way deeper into the woods and I followed behind him as fast as I could. Occasionally, he looked over his shoulders to make sure that no one was following us, and we managed to go a long distance without any more trouble. Twenty minutes into our journey, we finally ran out of luck. We had gotten to a part of the woods that was densely populated with huge trees, making it harder for us to navigate our way through, and it was then that I saw the gleaming red eyes watching us from a distance - one at first, and then a second, a third, a fourth. We were surrounded by rogues. "Stay behind me," Ethan warned. I hid behind him, my heart pounding fast in my chest, as the rogues closed in on us slowly. Their eyes were blood red, and filled with malicious intent. A loud howl went up from amongst them, and the next second, they all attacked.
