CHAPTER 4 - REJECTING THE ALPHA'S SON

1411 Words
DAISY'S POV It was the intoxicating scent of melted chocolates that eventually woke me up. I groaned and stretched in my bed as the scent wafted through every single opening in my room and into my nose. It was so strong, and I had no idea where it was coming from. It was probably the kitchen maids trying out some new recipes for the triplets. I tried my best to ignore the scent and concentrate on the problem I had at the moment - Kyle, but it was impossible. My body was restless and craving for whatever scented so good. I heaved a deep sigh and my eyes darted over to the old wall clock hanging on the wall. It was 11:56pm, exactly four minutes to midnight. That was when it hit me! My mate! It was the scent of my mate! He was right in this house! I grabbed a green sweater on my bed and wore it quickly before tiptoeing to the door. I could hear the sound of someone's feet shuffling just outside the door, where the scent was coming from. It had to be him, whoever he was. My heart pounded in my chest as I waited, listening, and then, I asked the question that was bugging my mind. "Who's there?" I muttered. I prayed and hoped for an unfamiliar voice to respond, but fate decided to play games with me when a familiar chuckle came from outside the door. "Three minutes left for you, Brownielocks," Kyle snarled. "I'll end your misery today, I promise." "No!" I cried, pulling myself away from the door. "It can't be! It's not possible!" The tears were streaming down my eyes uncontrollably. Why was the moon goddess being so cruel? How could she mate me to Kyle Houston of all people? There was no way I was going to accept him as my mate! "Two minutes, Brownielocks," He said with another chuckle. I was jolted back to the present by his chuckle and I remembered his promise to kill me after my birthday. I had to escape! My eyes scanned the surroundings and I quickly decided that the only way out was the window. My room was on the top floor of the mansion, and jumping down from that height meant that I was likely going to break a leg. However, it was much better than waiting to see what Kyle could do to me. I grabbed a few clothes and snacks from the drawer in my room and threw them in my backpack. Next, I picked up my phone and turned on the flashlight. Checking my phone, I noticed that I had over a hundred missed calls, and they were all from one person - Ethan. A small smile formed across my face at the finding. At least, there was someone who cared about me. "One minute left, Brownielocks," Kyle growled. I checked my phone quickly and seeing that the time was actually 11:59, I gasped. It was now or never. I pulled myself up the window and stared down at the lawn below. The sky was ink black but the well lit lawn enabled me to see the figure standing just below my room window with a phone to his ear. It was Ethan! My phone rang at that moment and I picked the call at once. "I've been worried, Daisy. I called over a hundred times and you were not picking." "Kyle...I found my mate...he wants me dead..." I mumbled all at once. "You're not making any sense," Ethan muttered. "I'm at the window," I cried. "I have to jump now. Look up." Ethan stared up at me and I waved to signal him. "Ding dong, it's midnight," Kyle announced. "Time up." The next second, I heard the sound of the door crash open and without thinking, I let my body pummel in the air. I crashed to the floor below and if not that Ethan was quick to catch me, I would have broken every single bone in my body on impact. Ethan shifted into his wolf - a huge black beast that was a few centimeters shorter than I was and I heard a voice sift through my head. "We have to go now. Climb!" I knew it was him. How he had been able to send me a mind link, I had no idea. However, he was the best option if I wanted to save my life. I climbed the huge wolf and then I heard the voice in my head again. "Try to hang on." I grabbed it's thick black fur as he barrelled down the lawn and into the woods. I could hear the sound of the triplets shouting behind us, but Ethan's wolf was damn fast. In a matter of seconds, we had left them far behind. Finally, we got to a clearing at the centre of the woods and Ethan stopped. He shifted back to his human form and we fell to the floor, exhausted. We remained on the floor for a couple of minutes, without saying a word to each other, and finally, I broke the ice. "Ethan," I muttered. "You saved my life." "Not for long," He growled. "The animal would be here any minute." Just as he said it, we heard the sound of bike tyres screech and we stood to our feet, alarmed. The strong scent of lavender filled the air, wafting through my nostrils and making me go crazy. The figure on the bike alighted and pulled off a black helmet, before advancing steadily towards us. "Who are you?" He growled. "And where do you think you're taking my mate?" My heart skipped a beat as I recognized the voice. It was Bryan, with a different but equally intoxicating scent. Could that mean that he was my mate too? "Hey - " Ethan paused and faced me. "How the f**k did Kyle's hair grow overnight?" "Uhmm - " I paused. "That's not - " "Doesn't matter how," Ethan cut in. "I'd finish him off either ways." His bones popped and reformed, and his fingers sharpened into claws. In a matter of seconds, he was the huge black wolf that had carried me all the way to the middle of the woods. "Daisy?" Bryan frowned. "Who's that? " I could see the fear in his eyes and I tried to stop Ethan but it was too late. He roared and bounded towards Bryan. With a strong paw, he tackled Bryan to the floor and his canines sunk into Bryan's shoulders. "Ethan, no!" I raced over to where he was and tried to pull him away, but he was too strong for me. Bryan screamed in pain as Ethan continued to rip his flesh apart, and when I couldn't bear the sight any longer, I cried. "That's enough!" The sound of my cry reverberated across the woods, causing a mini earthquake, and Ethan turned his attention to me. I could see clearly the blood on his jaw and the sparkle in his eyes. He let go of Bryan, who had already stopped struggling and he shifted back into his human form. "Come on, Daisy," He muttered. "We need to leave. They'll think you did this." "Leave him like this?" I shot at him. "Are you serious? He would die." "He's already dead," Ethan grunted. "And you would die next if you don't follow me." He turned on his heels and raced into the night, abandoning me beside a bleeding Bryan. I knelt on the floor beside Bryan and felt his pulse. Thankfully, he was still breathing. He was the son of an Alpha, and with the right treatment, he was going to be healed in a day. I was the daughter of an Omega and there was no explanation I could give that would save my life if I was seen at the scene of such a crime. Ethan was right. I had to leave. "I'm sorry," I muttered, tears rolling down my eyes. "You didn't deserve this. You never deserved me." I paused for a while as he stirred. "I, Daisy Snow of the Silver Moon Pack rejects you, Bryan - " The sound of another bike pulling up a few hundred meters away halted me. I rose to my feet at once and ran as fast as I could in the direction I had seen Ethan run. Rejecting the Alpha's son could wait for another day.
