Chapter 12

Alex POV My whole body felt rough edged—my arms felt as if, it has been tied with thick ropes for ages. I managed to sit up. I looked at my both side, but there was no sign of Damian. I didn't know how well to feel or react about that, but a simple thought came in. “maybe his out—” “Ouch.“ My voice was barely above a whisper, as I stretched out my body. I relaxed on my back, leaning a bit backward to wall. Damian, wasn't healthy enough to have gone out from the Ward, or maybe he just went to take a shower and relax from all the whole stressful activities. “How are you doing?“ Simi asked as she walked into the room, with a smile. I nodded at her, almost returning same smile to her. From her facial expression, she seemed a bit happy and maybe relieved, but that wasn't going same with me. Within me, I was depressed—angry. She sat beside me, while I just sat there thinking about my life. And how to run away from him atleast. Hours passed, and Damian didn't walk into the Ward or walk out of the ward. At this moment I realized something was definitely going off. I turned to Simi. “where's Damian?“ “I saw him leaving the hospital in the early hours today.“ My eyes widened in shock. I was clearly or almost short of word's. Leaving the hospital. Why would he?? “Why?“ “I can't tell. I didn't get a conversation with him before he left; but he demanded for a little money to pick up a taxi.“ I released a groan. The wave of anger followed. “Does he think, me bringing him here means am all senseless—” “—Ma'am your health is more important.“ Simi cut my words off. I stood up, not minding her concern towards my health and also not minding about him. He picked what was right for himself and here I am going to pick what would also stand right for myself. The ward door opened widely, a man in a well taliored suit walked in. He held a fancy ballon with extra gifts in his both arms. “Who are you?“ I questioned arrogantly. He gave a little smile, dropping the present on one of the empty hospital table there. I looked at his every step. “A delivery guy.“ “Okay. But I think you're in the wrong room.“ He brought out a little notepad from his pocket, gave it a little glance and looked at me. “You're, Alex, Damian's wife.“ I gave a slight nod to him. “Okay.“ He walked more closer to me.“ I would need your signature.“ He passed a note to me with a pen. I did as he instructed, but still giving a serious Stren Expression. He took the note pad from me and similed. “Thank you.“ “Yeah.“ The door went wide open and he walked into the hallway. I moved to where the gift was packed. Simi as well stood up, standing behind. One question raced through my mind. “Is all this from Damian?“ I picked up the first ballon, then the second. My name was boldly written on it. Simi also came to carry one of the gift box. As soon as she opened it, a paper fell from it. I dropped the ballon and picked up the paper. “It sealed.“ I tried to open it. Simi assisted and it opened up. The note read. 'ALEX, I'M SORRY FOR THE STRESS I HAVE PUT YOU THROUGH OVER THIS PAST TIMES. FOR REPAYING BACK, I WOULD BE GIVING YOU A SPECIAL TREATMENT, CAN YOU MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE CHAPTER CHASER TOWER, ALL ALONE!' WRITTEN; DAMAIN. I almost blushed at reading the note. A well known mafia lord getting all cool with me and offering a special treatment. I felt a bit happy after reading through it. “This wonderful, I can't believe my boss can be so nice.“ I nodded to Simi words. The smile playing on my face, almost couldn't stop appearing there. I turned to Simi. “Where's the tower?“ I asked. “not really far from here, with ten dollar you should already be there.“ I released a slient sigh. But one problem here was money to reach my location. “Can you lend me some money?“ I questioned calmly. “I wish, but am out of cash.“ I nodded at her. “Let me check the other gifts.“ Before picking up two gifts, I saw a bundle of money. I picked it up. (Chapter Chaser tower) I stood outside the tower, my chest racing fast. The tower looked really old and maybe weak a bit. Before I took a step, a thought flashed through my mind. 'What if it was a trap!“ I stood there thinking about it, but with the present that came along with the note, it can't be a set up, and besides, why would he want to set me up. I slowly walked into the quite compound of the tower. “Who are you?“ I immediately turned around. It was the delivery guy, in a more different uniform. He didn't give a friendly look even though we just met not quite long. “It's me.“ I smiled. “I know it's you.“ He said, walking closer to me. Before I could step back, he released a smile and giving a more friendly appearance. He acted more like someone with bipolar syndrome. “What are you doing here?“ I asked him. “I stay here.“ “So bad.“ I gave a pity filled expression. He smiled and accompanied me inside the tower hall. I stood there, looking around for Damian. “Damain.“ I called his name with a high tone almost a loud screech. “You must be Alex.“ a female figure, stepped out of the shadow. “Who are you?“ “You can call me your greatest enemy!“
