--- POV Emilia ---
I spun around in shock, afraid to look at him. It was too nice to see. I don’t think I have seen that many muscles on a man before. Since I’m a water dragon, I trained around those like me. The male water dragons aren’t the bulkiest builds in the world, but Tobias looked like a titan!
“Sorry!” I squeaked when I was facing the door again and then I heard it. His laugh rang through my ears. I spun around in shock, not really caring about his lack of clothes at this point. “Wh-why are you laughing?” I whimpered.
He looked down at me with a grin. “No reason. You’re just…I’m just glad you are how I remember you. Don’t ever change.” He said before heading to the bed. He plopped down on the comforter and looked up at me. “You coming?” He asked.
I shook my head and ran over to my suitcase. I grabbed some PJs out of the bag and ran to the closet he came out of earlier. I slipped on my tank top and matching blue shorts before stepping out of the closet. He turned my way and cleared his throat before looking back at his phone. His bottom half was already under the covers. “I thought I should change first i-if I’m going to stay in here.”
“Oh geeze, Emilia! Get a grip!” Natalia shouted and I bit my lip and walked up to the other side of the massive bed. It didn’t seem as big now that Tobias was lying across it. I slipped into the sheets and buried myself into his scent. It was delicious. I could feel my cheeks redden as my whole body heated up with need.
“Why are you all the way over there?” He asked, yanking me to his side of the bed. He wrapped his arms around me and sighed. “Much better.” He whispered.
Just like on the plane, I froze.
At some point in the night, I made it to sleep, but when the light shined through the room I winced at the sun. I tried to stretch, but the heat from Tobias and his arm around me made it a bit difficult. I shimmied out of his grip and made my way to my suitcase again. I should probably unpack today. I ruffled through my clothes and settled on a blue and white dress with flower designs and a navy-blue bra and panty set. I walked to the bathroom, did my business, and took a quick shower before getting dressed and pulling my hair into a messy bun.
Once I walked out the bathroom, I was scooped up off the floor and Tobias’s lips were on my neck. I gasped and let out a moan. “T-Tobias!”
“Why are you awake so early?” He asked before sitting my bum on his forearm. I do not know how he is holding me like this. I might be shorter than him, but I’m still 5’9.
“I need to unpack and I was going to make you breakfast and I…I always wake up early?” Great! Mumbling again.
He nodded and gently placed me down on my feet. “Okay. I’m going to crash for a bit longer. You don’t have to make breakfast. Sam can do it.” He said nonchalantly. He flopped down on the bed and sighed heavily.
I nodded and started pulling clothes out of my bags. It didn’t take long before I heard a soft snore coming from him. I giggled lightly and finished off on the last bag. It didn’t take as long as I thought. It was around eight, so I headed in the direction of the kitchen. Once I finally found my way, I walked in on Sam pulling out some meat from the fridge. “Good morning.” I said.
He turned and nodded. “Good Morning, Emilia. May I help you with anything?”
I shook my head and walked up to him with my hands behind my back. “No, I was just wondering…if I could cook?”
He stared at me for a moment, then a bright grin shined on his face. “Yes! This is the one thing I’m not a fan of at the house. I’m a decent cook, but I’m not a chef. I had some of the curry you made last night and I knew I wouldn’t be able to top that!”
I felt my eyes grow in shock when all of that came out of him. He seemed to be the one word type like Tobias, but I guess I was wrong. I quickly got myself together and smiled. “Thank you! It would be great to cook while we are here. I know that they won’t let me work, so this is the better option.” I said, happily skipping to the ingredients he pulled out.
After I started cutting the ham and seasoning the eggs and biscuit mix, Sam and I started a comfortable conversation about his life and how he came to be in the service of the McLarin family. It was really interesting. I started searing the ham when I heard two sets of feet coming down the stairs.
Seth slipped in first and immediately grabbed some OJ that Sam prepared and placed on the kitchen island. “Oooo so Emmi is cooking for us now? Don’t spoil us too much or we won’t want to go back.” He said, lightly bumping my hip.
I grinned and held back a laugh. “I promise this is purely for selfish intentions. I do love to cook.” I felt warmth immediately and looked down to reveal Toby’s strong arms wrapped around my torso.
He kissed the top of my head and took a deep breath. “I’m glad you found something to do around here. The last thing I wanted was for you to be bored.”
I felt my face brighten and I ecstatically turned around…again ignoring the cast iron skillet. Tobias easily pulled me out of the way and moved the skillet back onto the burner. “Em…please be more careful.” He growled through his teeth.
I laughed and tapped his chest. “You know I’m clumsy.” I whimpered, pouting a bit.
I was lucky today. I got to see him smile again. It was a lovely thing to behold. “Okay, I guess you are right on that one. I shouldn’t distract you so much.”
I leaned into him a bit and snuggled up to his chest. It was so warm, I couldn’t help it. “Speaking of…can I go get some paint from the store today and a couple canvases? I want to do some watercolor pieces while I’m here. You guys have a great view of the ocean.”
He leaned back a bit and nodded. “That sounds fine to me.”
“What about –” Seth started and Toby turned to glare at him. “Nothing. Never mind.” Seth said hastily.
I looked in between them curiously and spun around, remembering the ham. “Shoot! It’s going to burn!” Tobias got out of my way and I hurriedly grabbed a plate I had already prepped with a paper towel and stacked the slices of ham on top of it. I spun around and put the plate on the island along with the eggs and fresh jam. The oven dinged and I pulled out the biscuits. “Get some while it’s hot. That goes for you too, Sam.” I said happily.
He looked at Tobias and, of course, Tobias allowed him to eat with us. This isn’t a formal dinner. It should be fun. All four of us chowed down and after about thirty minutes, Sam was cleaning the dishes and Seth and Tobias came down with their backpacks. “You ready, Em?” Tobias asked.
I ran up to him, pulling on my silver flats and grabbing one of my small backpack purses with some money and notebooks just in case I wanted to take notes. The humans may have something interesting to learn about. “Yes, I’m ready. I’m excited. I’ve never really been around humans before. Except for the mall a couple times with Saph.”
“No way!” Seth said. “I guess that makes sense though. Dragons still like to keep to themselves.”
I nodded reluctantly. “That isn’t my rule.” Seth and I started to laugh, and Tobias held onto my hand. We made it down to the first floor and I realized we were in the penthouse. Once the doors opened, both Seth and Tobias’s demeanors came into an icy persona that definitely fit their nickname. We walked across the lobby and headed into the car.
I tapped on Tobias’s shoulder. He looked down at me. “Yes, sweetie?”
“Why did you two change all of a sudden? We were having a good time then…umm….” I didn’t know how to finish that statement.
He pulled me closer to his side – as I was sitting in the middle of the two – and kissed my head. “It’s okay. We just don’t like other people approaching us. Sorry in advance if we are a little different at school. Seth is the talkative one, as per usual, but normally he’s like this.” He said, nodding to the twin sitting on his phone, not at all caring about the situation.
“Yeah, but he’s not like that at home.” I whispered.
Tobias shook his head. “He’s not like that around people he’s related to or trusts completely.”
Seth smirked. “That’s a small list, Emmi.”
I giggled and nodded. “Well, I’m glad I’m on that list. I don’t know how I feel about pouty Seth.”
He rolled his eyes. “I’m only pouty because my dear brother is dropping three work meetings on me so he can enjoy his mate.” He said with an added snark to his voice.
I winced when I heard Toby growl threatening his brother's statement. “Oh, I didn’t know. I can go to the store on a different day. S-sorry.”
He tilted my chin towards him and kissed my nose, my cheeks, and then my lips. “I will always change my schedule for you.”
Captivated by his stare, I initially nodded, then I quickly pulled away. “No, you have to work. I can wait. Honest. It’ll give me time to make dinner.” I kissed his cheek and smiled lightly.
He stared at me in shock and the car came to a stop. Seth climbed out first and held the door out for me. I climbed out behind him and Tobias slid out after. The shocked faces were all over the place. Popular much.
“Who is that girl?!” Was heard from here to the center of the campus. It’s okay though. They’re just humans. They have no idea I can hear them. However, from the looks on their faces, I don’t think they’d care either way.
