Realm Business

---POV Tobias--- Emmi. It was Emmi the whole time?! I couldn’t help the permanent smile on my face since I left Vlad’s realm…well, Eyota’s realm now. “Son, are you sure about –” I raised my hand and pointed to the phone resting on my ear when my mother and father came into my room together. I heard them knock, but I knew they would come in regardless of my response. “No Sam. Just make sure the room is finished. Nothing too flashy. Just some nice blues, tans, and oranges. Those are her favorite colors.” I glanced over at my parents and my mother blushed as a grin graced her face. She cleared her throat and mouthed ‘sorry’ as she realized they had just walked in on a conversation. “Alright Tobias. I’ll have it ready by this afternoon. When should we be expecting you, sir?” Sam asked over the phone. I am grateful that dad sent us someone to assist around the house and help us out when we had to go on business trips. Sam really is the best aid we could have asked for. “Late tonight. The jet won’t be ready until shortly after lunch. Seth and I have class in the morning so we will try to get some sleep on the plane.” “Of course, sir.” He said sternly. I nodded. “ Good. Thanks Sam.” I said before hanging up the phone. My dad looked at me in shock, then chuckled. “Did I just hear you say thanks to someone?” He asked accusingly. Like he's any better. I rolled my eyes and plopped down on one of the armchairs in my room. “What can I do for you mom and dad?” I looked between the two of them and my mom winced. “Well, Toby…I know that you want to help and be more involved with the realm and pack business. Trust me, we are ready to hand it all over to you, but there are some things that we cannot just thrust upon you and Seth.” I c****d my head to the side and started shaking my leg. I looked over at the clock and remembered I was supposed to head over to Uncle Selvin’s. I smirked inwardly. Maybe I should call him something different at some point. Either way…I have to meet up with Emmi and here we go again with this pointless conversation starting and ending with ‘we want to protect you two’. “And what would that be? Something else you can’t tell me?” I asked curiously and with a dash of sarcasm. “That’s actually what we want to talk to you about. You know Drac, Selvin, Tylyn and I are all the Origins of our supernatural world, correct?” My mom asked. I nodded. “Of course. Vampires, Dragons, Witches & Fae, and Shifter respectively.” She nodded. “Right. However, we vehemently tried to block you all from the–” “The fifth shifter you and Uncle Drac killed shortly before having Seth and I.” I said, cutting her off. She froze and looked to me, terrified. “H-how did you know about him?” She asked breathlessly. "No one was supposed to-" “Mom, we are your children. Saph and Tyler don’t know about it, but Seth and I are to observant not to notice. It’s not a bad thing that we know though. He’s dead. No big deal.” I looked at their expressions pale, and I realized my assumptions might not be the case. “Right?” I asked, expecting them to say ‘of course’ and laugh it off, but I had a feeling I wouldn't be that lucky. “I wish it was that easy, but each Origin has a spirit that has blessed them with the power of an Original Origin. Like, for me, it’s the Earth Spirit and, for Tylyn, it’s the Magic Spirit, and so on.” I nodded and allowed her to continue. “Well…there is another spirit that is better known as the Spirit of Darkness.” I froze and cleared my throat. “Yep. What about him? He was sealed away thousands of years ago.” I tried my best to stay calm, but I was starting to feel like the seven-year-old in my dad's office again. “Well, he won’t be for long.” My mother sighed and sat on the other armchair while my dad stood behind her. “I tried to hide it from you and your siblings because he is not a spirit to be trifled with. He is horrid and cruel. You can’t just go on the battlefield like you do with Eyota and Aldon behind our backs.” I winced at that one as she glared at me. It was nice to help out when we can, and it was a great way to blow off some steam. I mean come on…it wasn’t behind their backs. We are literally called the Ice Kings for a reason and it’s not just because of our lively personalities. It’s got much more to do with our merciless battle strategies in war. “Mom, we have told you and dad many times when we were helping the vampires. It was fun and we only helped when they had to go to the eastern side of the world. We are their allies, aren’t we?” My mother scoffed and it was funny to hear her aversion to fighting when she still trains with her warriors to this day. She is the Queen of the Lycans, yes, but also the Empress of the Battlefield. Sometimes, I would love to know who makes these names. Even though she is a trained assassin, they are priceless. “It just won’t be that easy this time. Eyota and Aldon are aware, and you and your brother should be as well. This is becoming your fight the further along in life we get. The Spirit of Darkness comes to Drac and I regularly and he is adamant about destroying our children like we killed his.” I nodded in agreement. “Zetheryn?” I asked coldly. “Yes…Zetheryn. He was beyond saving and Drac tried everything…but there is only so much someone can do when the culprit doesn’t even want to try. However, that spirit will never see it that way. It will always be shown as the other Origins ganged up on his and destroyed him out of greed.” She added, staring blankly at my unlit fireplace. I’m sure she was remembering the…conversations she has had with him. Seth and I stumbled across one once and it was terrifying. She was screaming so loudly that the entire castle went on lock down. Once we got dad and brought him to her, he forcibly removed us from the room and we didn’t see her again for two days. After that, we would hear the screams every now and again, but it seemed like she tried to hide it from us as best she could to minimize a repeated reaction. “Mom.” I said, resting my hand on hers. “I know it’s hard, but we can do this. We can help you all fight this monster. I won’t allow him near any of my siblings and I will turn him to dust if he threatens the family. Just…just let us help you.” I pleaded and she nodded. “I guess I don’t have much of a choice. It will start to get harder for you and both your brothers when you return. Make sure you cherish Emilia. Don’t let your determination cloud your love for her. We will keep you all in the loop from now on. Well…maybe not Saph, but you three deserve to know as the future King Lycan, Beta, and Gamma. It’s up to you if you want to tell Emilia.” My mother concluded. “Okay. I know. I will do my best, but speaking of Emilia, it’s time for me to go get her.” I said happily and both my parents chuckled. “Alright son. We will see you both for lunch and then you will all be heading out?” My dad asked and I nodded. “Alright then. Safe travels.” He said before both him and my mother left my room. I ran downstairs and made it to the portal Aunt Abs made for us to travel back and forth between the realms. I took a deep breath and thought of the dragons before heading into the portal to their realm. ---------- Once I made it through, I dusted off my pants and looked up to the bruting warriors of the Dragon King. “Hey kid.” Michael said shortly. I rolled my eyes and came up to him holding out my arm. “Come on, Michael…really?” I said and he chuckled playfully. Since the dragons came out of hiding, even they will assist every now and again with battles within the supernatural realms when needed. We assist them when needed. Since Seth and I started helping out, I see them more as brothers than uncles. “You gonna treat our princess right?” He growled and clasped his forearms with mine. I nodded. “Of course.” “Good, because we will barbeque you if we hear otherwise.” One of the others chimed in. There was a hint of malice behind his words, even with the smile on his face, so I knew he wasn’t joking. “Don’t worry. I won’t.” I added shortly. “Where’s King Selvin?” I asked curiously. “He had to head off on business with Jas, and Quil is at the training grounds.” Michael noted. “Makes sense. I will chat with them later then.” Emmi’s scent grazed over me, and I realized I was delaying my time with her again. Something I have been doing for nine years. I’ve never been that patient. I'm surprised I held back from her. I need to go. “Of course.” He agreed. I pulled away from Michael’s grasp and jogged up to the castle foyer. I still cannot get over how modern, yet medieval, this place looked. “T…Tobias.” Emmi said, now standing in front of me. That little stutter is adorable. I looked down surprised that she actually snuck up on me. I’ll blame it on her size. Compared to me, she is perfectly petite. “Hey Emmi.” I said softly and grazed my thumb across her bare cheek. She smiled and hummed softly before closing her eyes and leaning her head a bit into my hand. “Sorry I was late. My parents need to talk to me about some pack business.” I’m not going to talk about it with her now. She is the oldest of the royal family so I’m assuming she might know something, but I’ll wait for the right time to talk to her about it and this isn’t it. She shook her head. “No, no it’s okay, it’s kind of hard that our cell phones don’t work too well here, so I understand why there wasn’t any heads up about the delay. I also realized I don’t have your number so…um...” She mumbled as her voice trailed off. I held out my hand and she looked over to me confused. “W-what?” She asked. “Phone.” I said shortly. She flinched and pulled it out of her back pocket, unlocked the screen, and handed it to me. “Sorry, I didn’t realize–” I rested my finger over her lips, and she blushed again. “Nothing to apologize for.” I dropped my hand and her small fingers rested on her lips while I typed in my contact information, called myself so I had hers, and handed the phone back to her. She took it and her eyes grew when she saw my number on her phone. I smirked and looked around for her boxes. She only brought down a few suitcases. I looked at her confused and she hurriedly put her phone away and readjusted the small backpack on her back. “No boxes?” I asked curiously. “I didn’t think it made much sense to pack all my things since I will be moving to your place in the Lycan territory when you graduate?” She always second guesses herself. It’s cute. “So…so I thought it would be easier if I left everything here and only took what I needed for the time we will be staying in London.” I grinned and grabbed the suitcases in either hand. “Okay. I can work with that. If you are missing anything, let me know and we will go out for it as soon as we can.” She smiled happily and went for my elbow. I’m assuming to grab it, but she stopped just short of it. I bent my arm and shifted the suitcase, so it didn’t bump her side. She looked down at it hesitantly, then slipped her hand around the crook of my arm and walked alongside me to the portal. “I already said goodbye to my family, so…I’ll see them soon…right?” She asked, looking up at me with her doe eyes. “Of course, Emmi. We will be back often.” I responded confidently. She smiled back while we made our way through the portal and back to the Lycan Territory.
