--- POV Emilia ---
I stretched and found myself in an unfamiliar room that was cozy, warm and familiar. The room was decorated in my favorite colors. Just like home. I blinked, realizing the color palate was all my favorite colors. “Verryyyy attentive.” Natalia purred and I felt something in my core I really wished would go away. I yipped and hopped out of bed.
“Stop it, Natalia. We are the princess of the Dragons and this is not a brothel.” I growled, storming off to the bathroom.
“Nope, it’s a host club with the number one host at our disposal. Such a yummy mate.” She purred again.
I huffed and blocked her out. Finally, some silence. I glanced at the clock and startled myself. “It’s two-thirty p.m.?!” I shouted. I hurriedly flew through the shower and dried my body on the towels left out for me. I ran into the room I was in and realized my suitcases were in here as well. I pulled them open and grabbed a large grey sweatshirt and dark blue leggings with a lace panty set.
After tugging on my clothes, I ran out the room in my fuzzy anklet socks and skidded to a stop in a plain hallway with floor to ceiling windows. They seemed a little darker than it was outside and I realized they are probably tinted. Nice touch. “Where am I?” I wondered to myself.
“Hello Ms. Emilia, would you care for some sandwiches for lunch?” I spun around to reveal a man…well, a Lycan with speckled grey hair and caramel skin. He was slightly taller than me with bright grey eyes. Nothing extraordinary about him, but I know he had to be someone important to yield this kind of power. I can feel it radiating off of him.
Not only that, but he wore a custom gray suit with polished black dress shoes. He bowed slightly to me and looked down at the floor. “E-excuse me, sir, but…who are you exactly…where…where is…ummm…” I blushed, trying to say his name in almost an inaudible whisper.
“My name is Sam. I am Tobias and Seth’s right hand. I am here for whatever they need whenever it is required.” He said slowly before rising. “Nothing that the title ‘sir’ would be needed for, but thank you for your politeness, miss.”
I shook my head quickly, letting my curly locks fall where they may lie. “No…no…j-just call me Emilia please.” I begged. I was hoping I wouldn't have to deal with servants here, but who was I kidding?!? They were princes and this man seems to have a bit more responsibility than handing me a sandwich.
He nodded and pulled his arm to one direction. “This way, Emilia.” He said with a smirk. I silently followed him down the stairs and into the large kitchen that seemed to be more sparse than I had ever seen. The whole apartment seemed more sparse than I thought possible. It was so…too clean. I stared at the bar and imagined a couple of father’s warriors clinking their beer mugs. I missed them more than I thought…and so quickly. I blinked back the tears and turned to the plate of food resting on the counter. “Please, eat.” He said, then disappeared into the archway on the right side of the silent room. I sat on the cushioned bench and finished my plate quietly. Four p.m.
I hopped off the stool, realizing they were a bit taller than I thought. I stretched then walked over to the fridge, revealing a plethora of food. My eyes brightened and I started pulling out chicken, butter, spices, potatoes, and vegetables.
I don’t know when, but I had a curry simmering in a couple hours. “Sam?!” I jumped in front of the stove and turned to see Tobias walk into the kitchen with Seth following behind him. “Emmi?”
I opened my mouth and rested my hand on the burner. On accident, of course. “Sh*t!” I shouted, grabbing my hand and blowing on the cooked skin.
Tobias was on me in an instant. “Are you okay?!” He asked frantically. “Seth, towel.” He growled.
I shook my head. “I’ll heal in no time, I’m just –”
“Towel!” He shouted, making me jump. The damp cloth was in his hand in seconds, and he dabbed my hand softly. “You are a water dragon Em!” He growled irritably. “It’s not that simple.”
I blushed as he continued to dab and squeeze the water on to my skin, allowing the heeling process to be expedited. I breathed in relief as the skin reformed around the burn. As a water dragon, I heal much faster in water. I'm surprised he knows that. Hell, I'm surprised he remembered I'm a water dragon. Fire dragons wouldn't even be phased by the heat. It's like their skin is made of magma rock. Air and water dragons aren't too lucky. “Well, it smells delicious in here.” Seth said, awkwardly rubbing the back of his head.
“Leave.” Tobias growled.
“Yes, Tobias.” Seth called blindly.
“Find Sam.” Tobias growled as Seth hightailed it out of here.
He pulled the cloth away and sighed in relief. “Thank you.” I whispered, not too sure how to respond at this point. Tobias was pissed. “I…um…”
“What are you doing in the kitchen?!” He growled.
“M-making dinner?” I whimpered quietly.
He flashed his, now ruby eyes, toward the stove and looked at the pan’s contents. “Curry?” He asked.
I looked up at him and saw his eyes change back to the beautiful sapphire pools I know and love. “I…umm…yes?”
He smirked. “Why do you answer with a question?” He asked.
“I…I’m just…. You seem irritated.” I looked down and his hand relaxed its grip on my wrist and my small hand fell back to my side.
"What are you talking about? I'm not-" Tobias started, but he froze when someone entered the room behind us.
“Sir, you called for me?” Sam said, walking into the room and adjusting his jacket.
Tobias nodded and Sam glanced around the room. “Miss Emilia! I could have cooked! I mean I'm not angry about this at all, but you didn’t need to lift a finger here.” Sam said in shock. He ran over and looked in the pan, then back at me. “Curry?”
I nodded slowly. “Yes…what is so wrong with curry?” I asked, curious now. It's the second person who has looked at the food with a knowing glance. What was it about curry that made everyone so interested?
Sam grinned, but the smile immediately faded when Tobias turned our way. “It is his favorite." He said, nodding to Tobias. "Goodbye now.” Sam said, bowing. I could hear the slight smirk before he disappeared to wherever he ran off to when I disappeared into the kitsch earlier. I thought he was here all day. I'm sure he at least smelled the food at some point. The place has an open concept, so it's not like the kitchen is hidden away or anything.
Tobias and Sam exchanged looks before he left and Tobias sighed heavily, shaking his head. “So, that means you’ll try it?” I asked hopefully. I didn’t really think about it, but I’m glad I’m used to making a lot of food.
It makes me feel…feel normal to cook. I don’t use my powers and that makes it even better. The time and patience that it takes only with food, I will have the luxury of knowing it all because I stumbled in on the chef when I was nine. Since then, I’ve been learning about so many things and perfecting as many dishes as I can with my hands. Not with my magic. The one thing in my life that doesn't require my magic. “I guess that’s why I made so much…. I’m so used to feeding father’s inner circle.” I whispered.
“Your father’s inner circle?” Tobias growled. Why was he growling? What is his deal this evening and why do I feel so guilty about feeding my uncles? It seemed...almost as if he was jealous?
