welcome to my place

On a hot Sunday afternoon, I laid comfortably on the sofa with both legs up and my head hanging down, This made me feel a lot less sleepy whenever I read. I wore a beige coloured tank top and my comfortable green shorts. I flipped through the crisp pages, reading the food segment completely immersed in it. As I laid down on my sofa. The startling sound of my phone ringing sent me jumping from my half asleep state to fully awake. I snatched the phone quickly and took it to my ear. “Hello?” “It's Sunday Miss Dalton or did you forget .” I stood as I recognized the voice. “Mr Cole!” I said “My goodness, I hate what you've done to my name Regina .. Just call me Cole,” He laughed I was far too anxious to speak, knowing I would stutter or say a bunch of rubbish so I said nothing and just listened to his voice instead. “Do you remember what we talked about?” he asked “Umm No” “Well I'm here to remind you .” “what?” “Just come outside,” he said and hung up. I walked to the door but soon realized what I was wearing. I dashed into my room, searching my closet frantically for a decent outfit, I slid into a pair of straight leg jeans and a T-shirt that said ‘naughty girl’ which belonged to Vivian. I was in too much of a rush to bother myself with whatever was printed on the shirt I had on. I headed for the door again and realized my hair was messy and I had no makeup on my tired looking face. I ran back into my room and made several attempts to apply lipstick, the first try was too much, I wiped it off with the back of my hand, and made a second attempt which was worse than the first and was wiped out again. “Forget about this!” I yelled, pulling out the rubber band holding my hair up, my hair fell on my shoulders and without a second thought I dashed out of my apartment and into the street. Meeting the blinding gaze of the sun. I protected my eyes with my hands and peered round the street for Cole. I heard the honk of a car parked across the street, it was a different car from the one he drove to work, this was a sleek black car with tinted windows. I trotted to the car and stood by the passenger seat. The window went down slowly revealing him in the driver's seat. He had a pleasant smile on his face, “Miss Dalton?” he called as if to make sure it wasn't someone else. “Hi there,” I answered, panting heavily, “I didn't come here to talk to you from a window Miss Dalton,”He said sternly. I looked around and met Sharon's eyes watching me from across the street, she had a dog walking beside her on a leash. After a long bitter stare, she finally stretched her crooked lips into a smile and waved as if she had two personalities, the one that hated me and the one that was still my friend. I waved back and quickly jumped into Cole's car. I turned to him and noticed how incredibly casual he looked, his hand still holding onto the steering wheel showing off the expensive wrist watch he had on. He also had on a white T-shirt and black shorts, I found myself staring pointedly at his legs. “Nice shirt,” He said referring to the words ‘Naughty girl’ printed boldly on it. I looked down at myself and reality soon dawned on me as I finally paid attention to what I was wearing. I burned with embarrassment. “Naughty girl huh? I meet a different part of you everyday Miss Dalton,” he laughed, he commenced out of the street and into the road, the weather was different from inside his car. I was terribly nervous, hoping he would not talk about the move I pulled at work, getting myself a big role in our upcoming project. He was a completely different person outside and at work but unfortunately I was the same person everywhere and everyday. “I'm glad you accepted my offer.. you had me worried for a second .” he said facing the traffic, he slowed down and waited for the cars ahead to move but unfortunately there was a traffic jam and everyone honked impatiently. He turned down the radio and faced me and I faced him as well trying not to avert my eyes nervously, knowing how anxious I felt around him, he scanned me carefully. “What's that stain on your hand?” he asked noticing the lipstick smudges, he chuckled softly to himself, he knew exactly what does stains were but asked anyway as he found joy making me miserable. “It's nothing,” I said, hiding my hand away. “I'm glad you don't have any lipstick on, ” he grinned. “why?” “Cause then I won't be able to kiss you,” he leaned over to me, he took his arm behind my neck and pulled me closer to himself. He joined his lips with mine in a passionate kiss, I was invaded by the sweet smell of his cologne. I wanted to hold him tightly and have as much of him as possible but instead I pushed him away as the road cleared and the cars behind began to honk and people cursed out from their windows. He returned to the wheels with a proud smile on his face as he drove on. “Do you know how to cook?” I asked “Well don't know how to cook, this is actually the first time and I want you to be the first to try whatever I make,” He laughed, “I'm just joking, I'm a really good cook .” “Says who?” “All the women I've cooked for” he laughed again “you really can't take a joke Dalton .” “Call me Regina like everybody else,” I turned to the window but still could see the surprise on his face. “But I'm not everybody,” leaned closer again before he could pull me towards himself he jolted suddenly, “ That reminds me, I don't have any groceries at home,” He took a left turn, and stopped at a supermarket. He opened the door and jumped out hastily, leaving me behind in the car. I rushed after him. He stood before the large freezer, staring thoughtfully at all the items inside. “Do you prefer chicken or beef?” he finally asked. “Chicken's fine,” I answered. All the drinks I had with myself at home took a toll on me as I felt a pressing sensation in my bladder. I tried not to join my legs tightly together, certain it would only make me look ridiculous. Cole paid no attention to me and he was beside himself deciding what ingredients he needed. “ Regina come help me choose which pasta would be better!,” he yelled from another aisle, “Give me a moment!” I answered, rushing to the nearest restroom. In a few minutes I returned but did not see him, I walked about the aisles and eventually found him in the vegetables section chatting with a young lady. I watched from where I stood. He smiled widely, showing his charming face structure and dimple. I rushed beside him and faced her, putting my hands around his arm. She looked similar to the lady I spotted him with in the coffee joint over the week. Though this lady wasn't as tall as the previous lady, she had short blonde hair but her outfit left very little to the imagination as she had a Sheer top on and tiny booty shorts. “Hi” I said sternly, she rolled her eyes and handed him a piece of paper with her phone number written down she excused herself quietly, tottering off. “Why'd you scare her off! she just wanted baking tips,” he turned to me. I soon remembered what our agreement was about and I was still just as single as possible, I quickly released his arm from my jealous grip. “Whatever,” I said walking away. The car ride was silent as neither of us said anything, I still wasn't certain of the kind of topics we could discuss. I fought the urge to talk about work as he was an entirely different person and I couldn't talk about other things without knowing what his interests were. “Is Mr Wade your father?” I blurted out, he turned to me with a startling gaze, “I'm sorry.. You don't have to answer that” I quickly retracted, pressing my palm against my forehead in regret. I had only known Mr Wade for three years, he never acted like a parent in any way and we all assumed he had no child, but Both Mr Wade and Cole bore the same last name which was ’Harrison’. The agency was founded by Mr Wade who was a video producer, from what I could gather, he started off making children movies and cartoons then later on went into making commercials and music videos as the agency could no longer afford movie creation and did not have enough sponsors to back them up. “It's complicated We don't need to know anything about each other Dalton,” he sighed tiredly and fixed his attention back to the road, i had made him uncomfortable with the intricacy of my question, I wanted to apologize over and over again but turned towards the window and watched the buildings and people going about their lives. Cole lived on the top floor of a luxurious apartment building, after a long elevator ride, he took my hand and led me to his door, which he unlocked with a pass code. The inside was unrealistically clean, the burnt umber toned walls created an inviting ambiance, the glass walls. I could tell that he had an interest in house plants given the fact that there were numerous house plants placed and hanging about. White set off chairs and a cozy fireplace. I wanted to tell him my parents were architects and how similar the building looked like something my father had designed a earlier on in his career, but then I remembered his disinterest In my personal life, I decided to keep the information to myself. Towards evening, I remained in the living room as he prepared dinner, with nothing to do and no pictures to stare at, I made several attempts peek into the kitchen but failed as he lead me back to the couch with both hands on my shoulders, we both laughed,“I'm so bored, give me something to do at least!” I cried. He looked around and picked up a car magazine. “Read this then?” he said, tossing the magazine over to me, he returned back to the kitchen. I flipped through the pages impatiently and decided to look around instead.
