Liana’s POV
I felt tears building behind my eyes, but I blinked them back. Crying would only prove his point about me being weak.
"I love you," I said quietly.
For a moment, something flickered in his eyes. Something that might have been the old Jaden, the one who used to love me back.
But then his phone buzzed with a message, and he immediately picked it up to read it. Whatever he saw there made his expression harden again.
"I have work to do," he said without looking at me.
"Jaden, please. Can we just talk for a few minutes?"
"About what? About how you've been embarrassing us both for the past couple of days? About how the pack members are starting to question whether their Luna is mentally stable?"
