I was so proud of Macklin. Everything around us was buzzing. People were coming up to introduce themselves to her. None of them commented about her eyes or spoke to her as if she was not wanted. Everyone who came up was excited to meet her. My chest filled with pride.
I could feel the excitement coming from the pack. Everyone held a smile and was enjoying themselves well, all but one couple.
Despite all of this, I kept my eyes on them. They had not come up. I saw them stand to the side, their eyes never leaving Macklin. Her mother seemed to want to speak with her daughter, but I noticed her father's tight hold on her.
On the other hand, he seems to pull his eye off Macklin just long enough to scan the room. Was he waiting for someone, or was he looking for someone?
