Taking The Stage
Pricilla POV I woke up this morning feeling blessed and good. Sitting on the bed, I stretched my hands above my head. I rose from the bed and made my way to my small wardrobe. I picked up a black pencil skirt, a small two-inch shoe, and a blue shirt. I closed the wardrobe and made my way to the restroom. Today is the day I will follow my dreams. My 20 years old dream. 😉 Today is our student summit where different entertainment companies come to pick students to train. I stepped into the bathroom, eager to get ready for the day. I turned on the shower, letting the warm water cascade over my body. After washing, I brushed my teeth, enjoying the minty freshness of the toothpaste. I headed to the sink mirror, running my fingers through my hair. To my horror, I realized I had forgotten to braid it the night before. "Jeez!" I exclaimed, "This looks like a bird's nest!" Determined to salvage my hair, I carefully packed it into a bun, making sure that it was secure. With my hair tamed, I left the bathroom, a smile playing on my lips. I was ready to face the day, the summit, and my future. I wore my clothes and shoe, put on some light makeup. I had to look perfect. I’m a beautiful girl don’t mean to brag but my beauty makes Goliath turns his neck. (No offense). Pricilla was a natural beauty. Her oval face, pink lips, dimples, long brown hair, and blue eyes made her stunning. She knew she had it. As I walked downstairs, I could smell the sweet aroma of my mom's coffee wafting through the air. "Pricilla!" my mom called from the kitchen, "Breakfast is ready!" I made my way to the kitchen and sat down at the table, smiling at my parents. They both looked at me with pride and affection, knowing how much today meant to me. We are a small family and contented. I heard the sound of buzz and I saw a text message on my phone from my bestie Sophia tell me to hurry that the sumit has start early. "Jeez!" I shouted, my heart racing. I hugged Anna and John and pecked their cheeks. "I gotta go!" I grabbed my handbag and dashed out the door. I hurried to the garage, where my scooter was parked. I jumped on my red scooter, started the engine, and wore my helmet with a quick prayer for safety. I zoomed out of the garage into traffic, enjoying the view of the big city. The wind flew my curly hair as I flew down the street, dodging pedestrians and avoiding cars and potholes. I couldn’t wait to display my talent at the summit, knowing today was the day I would make Anna and John proud. “Priscilla,” I said in my mind, “you can do this”. I parked my scooter at the front of the hall and made my way to the crowd, my heart racing. The hall was filled with students from all over the country, here for the student summit. I took my seat and looked at the crowd, searching for Sophia. I brought out my phone and called her. “Hi Sophia,” I said when she answered. “Hey babe,” Sophia replied. “Are you there already? I’m still waiting in line.” “I’m here,” I said, Sophia is in the audience, not competing. “You’ve got this, gir M,” Sophia encouraged. “Go out there and show them what you’re made of.” I smiled, touched by Sophia’s support. “Thanks, Sophia. You’ve always been my number one fan.” Third person POV With Sophia’s words of encouragement ringing in her ears, Priscilla settled into her seat, watching the judges and CEOs as they introduced themselves. Some of the CEOs couldn’t make it, but they had sent their assistants in their place. The competition began, and one by one, students took the stage, showcasing their talents. The audience applauded and cheered as each student performed. As Priscilla waited for her turn, her heart pounded faster and faster. This was her chance to prove herself, to make her dreams a reality. The competition kicked off, and student after student went on stage, showing off their skills. The crowd was cheering them on, clapping and shouting in support. Priscilla sat, butterflies filling her stomach as she watched the other students. This was her moment to shine, to make her dreams come true. Her heart raced, her pulse quickening with every second that passed. Priscilla’s turn finally came, and she rose from her seat with a pounding heart. As she stepped onto the stage, a bright spotlight shined down on her. With a deep breath, she began to sing her chosen song, “A Million Dreams.” Her voice was powerful and rich, her lyrics filled with emotion. The crowd grew silent, transfixed by her performance. As Priscilla sang, her voice strong and full of feeling, the auditorium fell silent. The audience hung on every word, captivated by her performance. She poured her heart into the song, her soulful voice filling the space. When she finished, the auditorium erupted in applause, the crowd shouting her name. Priscilla bowed, a smile on her lips. She knew she had given her best. As Priscilla stepped off the stage, a wave of applause following her, she heard her name being called from behind. Turning, she saw Sophia rushing towards her. Sophia was a petite girl with long, dark hair and a bright smile that lit up her face. “Priscilla!” Sophia exclaimed, wrapping her arms around her friend. “I love you, girl! That was amazing!” Priscilla smiled, taken aback by Sophia’s enthusiastic display of affection. “My bestie!” Pricilla exclaimed, returning Sophia’s smile. “Thank you!” Sophia nodded, her eyes shining with pride. “How are you feeling?” she asked. “Good,” Priscilla replied, beaming. At that moment, the announcer took the stage. “Thank you for all your amazing performances today,” the announcer said, his voice booming throughout the auditorium. “Results will be announced next week.” The crowd erupted into excited chatter as the announcement was made. Pricilla and Sophia exchanged a glance, their excitement palpable. “Can you believe it?” Sophia asked, her voice full of wonder. “You’re one step closer to your dreams!” “I know,” Pricilla replied, a note of trepidation in her voice. “I just hope I made a good enough impression.” Sophia smiled and squeezed her friend’s hand. “I have no doubt you did. You were amazing up there! Sophia is Pricilla number one fan. “How about we end the day with a cup of coffee?” Sophia suggested, her eyes sparkling. “Sounds like a plan,” Pricilla replied, grinning. “I brought my scooter.” Sophia let out a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness! I didn’t bring my car, so this is perfect.” Together, the two friends made their way out of the auditorium, the buzz of the day’s events still coursing through their veins.
