TYCOON'S CHANGE OF HEART

THE RECEPTION

Days passed by quickly and soon it was the day that my friend and I had been waiting for. After all the plans that we had discussed none of them was appealing and therefore we just decided to go in a non extravagant way that means we were going to go in the simplest car .

Waking up in the morning is always a difficult task for me. I could hear my alarm ringing and it's really irritating. I groaned, "uurggh !, who in the world invented this alarms!" I said that as I tried to switch off.

I gathered my strength to go to the bathroom to take a shower . Since we were not going to the reception this early morning ,I decided to wear a grey sweat pants and a black top then go for my breakfast.

I saw my nanny ferrying bread and honey, I smiled at her then greeted her, "Good morning nanny?"

"Good morning too dear. Did you sleep well?.Quick go sit down your brothers are already waiting for you. "

"Yeah I had a peaceful night and thanks I will join them now. " I winked at her as I walked away.

Surprisingly, no one is talking today which was unusual, even my noisy brother Kyle . I was wondering what wrong did either of us do coz usually when everyone is quiet it means there is a lecture to look forward to from Liam.

I pulled my chair and sat quietly. I greeted them as usual, "Good morning brothers?"

I expected them to answer me back but only Ethan greeted me back.I just looked at them uneasily and continued eating my breakfast quickly so as to be out of there coz it's really uncomfortable sitting with them and none of them is talking.

I got up from my sit ready to leave but I heard Liam roar, "Where are you going ?"

Well Liam is still mad at me after what I did at the office and I didn't even bother calling them for two days. I was actually planning to idle around the house but now that I am being asked , I had to come up with a reasonable excuse.

"Am going to the orphanage. ". I have been supporting an orphanage called House of Hope for the last three years but no one knew well except for my best friend. I got to know about the orphanage when I met a girl who was being rained on and she was wearing light clothes and nearly got into an accident as she was crossing the road, luckily I was quick to step on the brakes. I helped her and bought some clothes for her and some food before I dropped her off. I even forgot to ask what her name was but I just saw the name of the orphanage, I knew I would come look for her one day.

"What orphanage? and what are you going to do there?"

Am now pissed with Liam ,my patience is running out .So today was my turn to be lectured, I guess it's going to be a bad morning coz am also mad at him .

"Did I do anything wrong? What's with all the questions this morning?.Ooh about the orphanage, it's House of Hope and what am I going to do there ? Am going to spend my time there with those kids. " I answered back nearly shouting coz am mad.I can see my other brothers seeing me as if saying don't argue with Liam it won't end.

Kyle stretched his hand to hold mine which was for me to calm down.

"Okay Debby I know that you are mad and sorry for shouting at you the previous day but you are also wrong, you should have called either of us to know that you are okay ."

I just look at him with all emotions displayed in my eyes. I didn't know if I should settle the previous grudges that I had against him or just forgot. I usually don't have courage to face Liam like today. All in all I knew that I will eventually forgive him.I was silent for a few seconds before talking.

" I am sorry for shouting back and everything I did. "

We were both silent for a few seconds before Nate decided to break it " Guys I have to go ,see you in the afternoon. "

Liam left with Ethan after bidding me and Kyle bye.

"Siz , you really have quite a temper. But seriously, you are the only one who has the courage to talk back at Liam when he's giving a lecture. "

I looked at him as if am seeing a fool in front of me . " Kyle see you later , as for what you said I will take it as a compliment. "

I left the house and drove to the park as I was no longer in the mood to go to the orphanage. I could see children playing happily which made me smile. Some were crying, others were on the carrousel and others were with their parents some with their nanny's.

I was lost in my own thinking when someone tapped my shoulder.I turned my head only to see a little girl with piggytails and she wore a pink princess dress with white shoes.She is cute though .I smiled at her only to hear " Sister you are so beautiful "..I took her hand and also said "You are also pretty " as I softly pinched her cheeks. She was alone and I couldn't see her parents or nanny .I decided to ask her about her parents and why she was alone.

" Sweetie ,what's your name and why are you alone, where are your parents or nanny?" I asked her softly.

"My name is Ariel and I came with grandma but I lost her when I was playing .Daddy is working and I don't have a mommy " I could see tears in her eyes at the mention of her mum.

"Okay baby , we will go get some ice cream then look for your granny if we don't find her I will take you to my place then wait for your daddy to find you, now what flavour do you want?"

She seems relieved to find someone who could help her and I could see she trusted me. " I love vanilla "........" wooow ! Sister also loves vanilla, let's go"

I took her and bought ice cream for both us before looking for her grandma. We have been looking for nearly three hours and we can't seem to find. I don't even know her last name coz she is only three years old.I love her she cute and loveable.I am even jealous of her parents. " Baby, why don't I take you to my home and ask my brother to look for your dad and also so that we could eat and rest ."

"Okay sister, I will be good , I pwomise".

We headed back home. As I drove I could see that she was curious of everything we passed by and she was excited. Soon we arrived home ,I left my car on the drive way for uncle Sam to park it for me. I carried her and she was amazed by beauty of the house." Wooow sister your house is beautiful I love it."

" Let's rest first then I will show you around the house "..I met Kyle in the living room who was watching some shows.

" Kyle am home" He turned to see me and ran towards me . He wanted to carry Ariel but she refused as she held onto me tightly.

" woow she is so pretty! who is she and where did you find her." I explained the whole incident to him and asked him to call Liam. I went to the kitchen to ask nanny to cook something for Ariel. Luckily, my brothers weren't busy today it's a weekend so they were to come home for lunch.

" Baby , do you want a glass of water while we wait for the food to be ready?...and by the way this is my brother Kyle ,he is not a bad person and soon you will see my other brothers. "

" Sister I don't want water am okay but can we see around the house" I could see that she was eager to see the house and the garden.

" Siz ,why does she look familiar,mmh where have I seen her before? ,,uurggh I can't remember let's show her around the house "

"Okay let's go " We toured around the house for a while before going to the garden. It was around twelve thirty when our nanny called us in for lunch. We were so engrossed playing that I didn't even know that my brothers had already arrived.

We went inside for our lunch and my brothers were already waiting for us.

" Hello uncles,I am Ariel"....she is sensible and decided to introduce herself to my brothers. My brothers smiled at her and talked to her for a while before serving her food..I fed her first before I ate. " Siz I called her family and they will arrive soon, " Liam said as he ate.

I really didn't want to let her go and I faced Liam as if asking did you really have to ruin my moments with her . Nate ,Ethan and Kyle laughed at me coz of the way I looked at him." Siz you really love her that much after a short while? I bet the father will be in for a scolding."Kyle said .

I heard Liam chuckling " Kyle don't be too quick to conclude, you too will be surprised to know who her dad is . And princess don't you have somewhere to go at three ? "

I had already stopped feeding Ariel and was eating. My eyes bulged out " uurggh! I forgot, Sharon will arrive soon, at least we were to dress up here ,guess the remaining time will be enough for us. " I said to no one in particular.

We heard the door bell ring and my nanny went to open the door and ushered someone into the living room . " Liam someone is here for you " my nanny said as she headed to the kitchen. Liam also headed to the living room. I was hoping that Ariel' s parents won't arrive soon .Liam came back with someone who was following him behind. Ariel pushed her seat quickly and ran towards them. " Daddy! you came ." she was really happy to see her dad. The man bend down to hug his daughter and as he rose I was shocked to see who it was.

" Calvin!" I muttered while looking at Liam. Never in my widest dream did I think Calvin had a daughter. My mind was still processing when I heard Calvin greeting us all.

" Hey guys, how have you been? " he greeted us as he sat.

" We are fine ,well except the fact that you have a daughter and we are already uncles and we didn't know " Nate retorted.

" Waaah,.man you really kept it a secret. " Ethan added.

" Uum,,guys why don't we wait for us to finish eating then wait for what Calvin has to say. " Liam said.

Oh my God it's still unbelievable am just surprised though.

" Daddy, this pretty sister found me , you have to thank her." Ariel said.

Calvin looked at me with complicated eyes and I just smiled. " Mmh Thanks Debby for helping my daughter and for taking care of her, my mum was answering a call when Ariel went away " ..Calvin said

" Anytime, besides she is cute I had fun with her ."

We ate our meal silently before heading to the living room. " Sorry guys , I didn't inform you earlier that I had a daughter. Ariel is my daughter we had her when we were still abroad. To cut the long story short, her mum left her with me coz actually she didn't want to have her . She ended up leaving us and that's when we returned from France. "

" Waaah, you went through alot man ,luckily we have a beautiful niece" Liam said.

I actually felt sorry for both Ariel and Calvin both of them were left at a difficult times.

" It's okay as long as my daughter is happy am okay as well. Princess, come let me introduce you to dad's friends, you call them uncle okay baby ? . This is Uncle Liam ,Nate ,Ethan ,and Kyle ...this is ... "daddy i know ,she is pretty sister" I smiled at her while Kyle was scrunching his nose up. " Baby , why do you call her pretty sister and you call me uncle Kyle? I picked flowers for you and piggy backed you." .

" Because...because pretty sister is pretty and she bought me ice cream and you didn't pick the pink flower." Ariel said which made us all laugh.

Kyle was left wondering just because of that damn pink flower.

" Thanks for today guys ,thanks Debby, we have to get going .Ariel say bye to your uncles we will come some other time."Calvin said as he rose up.

" Bye uncles.....pretty sister I will ask daddy to bring me again soon. " Ariel said. I hugged her tightly coz I knew I won't be seeing her anytime soon.

" Baby, be a good girl okay, you are welcome anytime okay."I said to Ariel as we walked them out still I was carrying her coz I was reluctant to hand her to her dad.

Calvin took her from me as they were ready to board the car but before they could I called out to Calvin..." Calvin! if you ever need someone to babysit her, then am available. okay safe journey,,byee honey " . The car drove away till I couldn't see it anymore. I came back to my senses when Ethan placed his hand on my shoulder. " Princess, you really like children? " he asked me softly.

I nodded before adding, " We should advise Liam to get married for me to have someone to spoil.." We both laughed at that ,unknowingly we were already in the living room and my brother heard us..." I heard what you said princess.....but sorry its not anytime soon"

" uurggh! I guess my wish will not be fulfilled anytime soon " I sighed dejectedly,,before turning to Nate ..." Siz don't look at me like that ,,,,sorry to disappoint but your wish will not be fulfilled anytime also. "uurggh!! both of you are just pitiful, I guess I will spoil your friend's daughter then.Guys I have to get ready I have somewhere to go and by the way , when Sharon arrives just tell her to come up."

I heard Ethan and Kyle laughing at my two brothers.." I pity Calvin now ,, his daughter will really be spoilt just like her " Kyle commented.

" She always has a soft spot for kids. Guys let's get ready we are to give her a surprise today. "

I didn't have to wait for long before Sharon arrived. Thank goodness she was already prepared, she wore a jungle green gown ,with black heels matched with a pair of pearl earrings. I on the other hand wore peach coloured dress , black strap heels matched with small diamond earrings.

We headed towards the garage ready to set off to our destination .

" Debby are you ready for the show?" my friend asked.

"Hell yeah girl,,I think we are better off going without my helicopter plan " I said that while laughing.

For the rest of the journey we drove silently while listening to some music. Soon we arrived at the reception. I guess we arrived late coz most people had already settled. We got off the car and handed the key to the valet, unfortunately for us we met both Peter and Becky at the door as they were still ushering some guests. Becky looked at us with a disgusted look..." well well,,look who is here honey?" Becky said while turning to Peter.

" Sweetie ,I didn't expect that this two peasants will even get the chance of witnessing our wedding!" Peter said while looking at us from head to toe.

Sharon was already pissed off with their words. I looked at them then suddenly laughed coz for me it was as of I was watching a show. " Ooh my goodness, I can't believe we made it to this grand wedding,,ooh by the way congratulations ,you both deserve each other,," I said that sarcastically.

I could see that their reactions went from jolly to bitter.

" Ooh Becky ,thanks for offering to prepare dresses for us to attend your wedding, but no thanks,, our dresses are much better than what you offered to prepare...by the way congratulations also to you both. " Sharon had already had enough of them so she decided to make a comeback .

If anger could kill anyone, then am afraid Becky could already be dead. She suddenly erupted, " Bitches, I guess you are not happy to see me getting married in such a grand manner, and those clothes you are wearing I wonder which old man did you sleep, you both always sell your bodies to get expensive gifts....hahaha I will throw you out of my reception don't dirty my guests with your faces." .....

By now most guests had already surrounded us looking at us disgustingly. Peter's secretary came running then whispered something unto him.I could see his eyes blink brightly.."Hey you two wh**res, leave now I have some VIP guests to attend to".He said while shooing us out.

The whole reception became silent, before there was a commotion ,I turned to see what was going on but I could only see several men in black suits. We were being pushed to the point that I lost my balance and fell down. My leg sprained and as a result of that it was really painful. My eyes became teary coz I usually fear pain. " Debby are you okay?" Sharon ask with concern. I looked at her and said " I sprained my leg and it's really painful,but I think I can manage it "

My concentration was already on my painful leg but was interrupted by a voice, "Didn't I ask you to walk with your bodyguards ?"...I looked up only to see Liam standing there with a serious face.

"Wha...what are you doing here?"I asked nervously. I looked at his back only to see all my brothers, Calvin, Enzo and some bodyguards seeing my surprised face.

"It's a pleasure to have you at our wedding Mr Daniel ". Becky said while reaching out for Liam' s hand but he ignored.

Still she didn't backed off, "Mr Daniel, don't be bothered by them, they are just busybodies who sleep with old men. "

Liam was already irritated by her," What did you just say?"....before he could finish talking Kyle interrupted "b***h , how dare you call my sisters like that,,,,what prostitutes?..if only you were a man I could kill you but lucky for you, you are woman." he turned to her side to see Peter ," Finally ,I get to see this bastered, am going to kill you for what you did to my sister !" Kyle punched him till he was bleeding, luckily he was held back by Ethan.

I have never seen Kyle that angry, he is always jovial and a little bit soft compared to the rest. " We didn't come to attend any wedding here ,we came to pick our sisters,,ooh you don't know them, we'll Debby here is our only sister ,only daughter of Daniels, while Sharon is also our sister but the daughter of the Scott family,,,,,,as of what you have done to both of them, I announce that Daniel Corporation will have nothing to do with the Cater and Jackson family. " Liam said with finality, I felt he was already tired of staying in this place.

" I would also like to add that the Jones and the Martin family will not collaborate in any business matter or any other issue with your family, Debby is important to someone I love and she is a friend. " Calvin announced before walking out with the others.

Most people were already shocked by the revelation , I could see surprise, shock and pity on the guests there while we walked out. Liam was carrying me while Nate helped Sharon out. "Guys should we go out and have some fun together?"Ethan suggested, of which we agreed to it coz it was rare for us all to meet. Besides Enzo had to introduce himself to us .

The action that my brothers and friends took made me really emotional. I couldn't believe that I got my revenge with them stepping up for me.
