Another power!

Episode Four

“pon pon pon” was the sound that filled the bashorun’s room. He quickly stand up from his bed and pick a lot of clothes to cover his ear, the sounds keeps getting higher and higher that he couldn’t get himself. He brings out his Tupa’s charm and poured the powdery stuff on his palm and said some incantations “ I beg you my gods, let me see everything that's happening here. Haaa haaa haaa”. The next thing he sees on his palm is his mother sitting and waiting impatiently for him in his sacred room. He quickly rubbed it off and remember that he asked her to come see him in his sacred room that same night. He quickly changed into his charm dress and find his way into his sacred room. He found his mother sitting on a stool waiting impatiently for him, before he could say anything his mother splashed at him “ Adewale what happened? Why don’t you come on time? You are the one that said you want to see me even thou I too have something special for you. As you know, immediately the first cockcrows I won’t be able to talk/communicate with any human beings except in the evening or at night”. “ I am very sorry mother, you know, it rained yesterday night, I was drained from head to toe. I didn’t eat yesterday night because of the cold. I was feeling dizzy, but now, I am now a strong man. I am very sorry for delaying you down here. Please, I beg of you”. Bashorun said as he bowed low before his mother. 

 The mother then asked why he asked her to show here, Adewale replied “I want to ask if you can help me with more powers. I want to be more powerful than anyone on earth” his mother laughed and replied him back “ before you even said it, I already know what you wanted to ask from me and I have already planned to bring it to you” “really” Bashorun inquired. “ Yes, I have gotten another which has never been used by any human beings on earth. It’s so powerful that in the next thousands of years no one can dream of it”. “ what is that, oh mother!” Bashorun asked in anticipation. “ it is a great charm that will make you untouchable for any human being, you will be feared by all and obeyed by all. This is what I have been sayin….” She brought out a big box beside her which she commands to appear, she placed the box in front of the Bashorun. 

 “egberun egungun eniyan

 Egberun ebora ninu igi

 Eje omo eniyan meje

 Eje ewure egberun

 Ohun lafi se eto ise nla yii”

Which means “thousands of human bone

  Thousands of jinns in the timber

  Seven human blood

  Thousands of domestic animal’s blood

  Are used to prepare this work”

She continued “this is a great work that is done by thousands of celestial bodies and it’s all for you. Adewale, the main work of this box is that anywhere you go in this world, you will always be in front. People will continue to fear you and whenever you go to war you will overcome your enemies.the only thing you have to do is to be careful. “ ah this is a very great work. Mother, what will I be doing for this charm as a retribution for the things it will be doing for me”. Adewale retorted. 

 “ Before we go to that, this charm has another function that no one ever has, this box can be used to know whatever is going around the whole kingdom. So, concerning it’s rituals; All what you have to do is to increase you household, build more huts, because you have to get married every year and every year one of them must give birth for you. Their first child would be used as sacrifice and then the remaining ones can be left to live, we’ve got no business with those ones. This is why I said you must get married every year” His mother replied him. That is a small thing to do, everything shall be done by GOD’s GRACE”. 

“Getting married to ladies is not a big deal to me, I am a potent man and getting a lady pregnant every year is a small issue”. The Bashorun boasted. He collected the box from his mother and thanked her, “I thank you very much mother, I am very grateful for this kind gesture you showed to me, you have always been there for me at all time. You are always caring and supportive, I thank you. You are so much different to my father who is always shouting at me. He never for once show me any of his charm nor teach me any while he was still alive. I believe that any time I call on you, you will always be of help. Thank you so much”.

 His mother too replied him, “ You are just like my father, my father was a powerful man in this kingdom who is known for his great charm. He was a great man during his stay on earth. He is an hunter who cannot be left out when calling out hunters in the kingdom. He killed a lot of animals which ranges from elephant to crocodile to lion, tiger and many other wild animals terrorizing the kingdom as at then. Do not be afraid Adewale, do not be shy to ask anything from me, I am with you wherever you go on earth. You will surely overcome your enemies. Also, about the war you are going for in some months now, you will surely out rule them, their king will bow in front of you and surrender immediately they sees you. Or don’t you trust the charms am giving you?”. “ I do believe in whatever you believe in oh mother!”. 

In a flash, Adewale’s mother disappeared, Adewale looked at the box, placed it on top of the table to take a better view of it. He placed his hands on it, saying, “Magical box, I pray thee, do thy work!”. Immediately, everything turns white and the whole room was in light modeand it seems like the whole moon centres the room alone or like the modern day electricity light. Adewale was happy with this, he command it to stop. Everything returns back to his former state. He return it back to the cupboard where he already kept it before his mother disappeared. It was already five a.m in the morning when Adewale was about to leave his sacred room. He takes off his charm dress and chanted some ogun’s praise.

“I thank you very much

I praise you

You have been so good to me

Thank you very much”

Then he closed the door and went back to his room to hsleep. It was indeed a great night for THE GREAT BASHORUN. He slept soundly and happily. He woke up around twelve noon with a happy face, that he ordered his guards to prepare for him a fat cow. They did as he commanded them to and he told them to share it among themselves and his household in general. ANOTHER POWER ADDED TO A DICTATOR’S POWER!
