The following day, Vince was dropping me off at work. Before I closed the passenger door, he called out my name. “I’m going to stop by my mom’s place today.” I almost asked for what but thought better of it. Instead, I smile and say, “Alright, drive safe.”  I felt Vince’s gaze on my back as I walked in through the front door. Olivia was already at the register helping out a customer. I still had a few minutes before clocking in, so I headed to the back room. To kill the remaining time, I pull out my phone and find an unread text from Vince. Be there at 6. Love you.
