Erik braced himself as Jed drove the truck into another small ditch. He winced from the pain in his ribs. Even though it had been a few weeks, he was still slightly sore. He glanced over at Jed who now had a lit cigarette in his mouth. Erik was never a big fan of smoking. It wasn’t the cigarette itself that he hated, but the memories that came with the familiar smell of it. Erik grew agitated the longer they drove. The road seemed to be never ending and it made him ready to fling himself out of the truck and just find his way on foot.
