I felt a jolt of surprise and shock when Jaset mentioned being Austin's uncle and a member of the council. It was like a bombshell had been dropped on me.
Hadn't Austin warned me not to cause a scene in front of the council? And now here he was, doing just that.
"Stay calm, Austin," I whispered, gripping his hand tightly as he seemed to be trying to tear my skin off.
His power was overwhelming. I looked into his eyes, which were turning a deep, dark red. I could see his wolf asserting dominance and protectiveness over me. Perhaps he had a troubled history with his uncle, or maybe his behaviour towards family was simply beyond my comprehension.
Regardless, I needed to focus on reigning in the tempestuous force sitting beside me rather than delving into the complexities
