Hawk walked towards them with the school principal following closely behind, a stern expression on his face. Emily felt a tremor run through her body as she gazed up at Hawk, her heart racing with anticipation. As soon as the principal saw Lance and Emily, he strode towards them, his hand gesturing for them to stand up. Emily quickly scrambled to her feet, her eyes never leaving Hawk's face. Lance followed suit, a questioning look on his face. The principal's eyes narrowed slightly as he asked, "What's going on here? Why were you two kneeling down?" Emily's voice trembled slightly as she explained, "I was sleeping in class, sir. Mrs. Johnson sent me out here as punishment." The principal's expression turned severe, "I see. And Lance, I suppose you decided to join her in her... exile?" Lance shrugged, "Guilty as charged, sir. I couldn't let her face the music alone." Emily's gaze never wavered from Hawk, who was watching her with a curious expression. She turned to the principal, "Sir, if I may ask, what is this gentleman in uniform doing in our school?" The principal gestured to Hawk, "Captain Hawk will be explaining his purpose during break time, Emily. Let's just say it's an... unexpected visit." Emily's eyes locked onto Hawk, expecting him to elaborate, but he remained silent, his face a blank mask. She felt a shiver run down her spine as his eyes seemed to bore into hers, as if searching for something. The principal nodded, "Very well, let's get back to class. Emily, Lance, please return to your seats. Captain Hawk, if you'll follow me, we'll discuss the details of your visit." As the principal turned to lead Hawk away, Emily felt a pang of disappointment. She had been hoping for some answers, but it seemed she would have to wait a little longer. Emily and Lance walked back into the classroom, and Lance explained to their teacher, "The principal asked us to come back in, Mrs. Johnson. We weren't trying to sneak back in or anything!" Mrs. Johnson raised an eyebrow but nodded, "Very well, take your seats." As they sat down, Emily leaned over to Lance and whispered, "What's going on? Why did you think he is here for?" Lance shrugged, "No idea, but I'm sure we'll find out soon." As soon as the teacher finished the lesson and left the classroom, Lance quickly made his way over to Cassie and whispered, "Guess who we just saw outside?" Cassie's eyes widened, "Who?" Lance grinned mischievously, "Hawk! The military captain Emily met at the recruitment meeting." Cassie's face fell, "What? Why didn't I get to see him?" Emily chuckled, "Don't worry, Cassie, I'm sure you'll get your chance soon enough." But Cassie looked less than convinced, a hint of jealousy in her eyes. "I'm the only one who hasn't met him yet. It's not fair!" Lance laughed, "Don't worry, we'll make sure you're included next time. Maybe we can even arrange a meeting." "Stop teasing me, Lance!" Cassie playfully slapped Lance's lap, Just then, their homeroom teacher, Mrs. Thompson, walked into the classroom, a serious expression on her face. "Class, I need your attention. In ten minutes, we will be having an assembly in the hall. Please make your way there quietly and quickly." The classroom erupted into murmurs and whispers as the students wondered what the assembly could be about. Lance turned to Emily and Cassie, "I bet it's about Hawk. He's probably here to recruit us or something." Emily shook her head, "I don't think so, Lance. It can't be about Hawk. We just saw him, and besides, the principal would've announced it already." Lance shrugged, "Maybe it's a surprise. You never know." Cassie looked worried, "What if it's something bad? Like a warning or something?" Emily tried to reassure her, "I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, Cassie. We'll find out soon enough." As the students continued to speculate, Mrs. Thompson reminded them to hurry to the hall, and the classroom began to empty out. The three friends followed, their curiosity piqued, wondering what the assembly could possibly be about. As they entered the hall, Emily's heart skipped a beat. Just as Lance had predicted, Hawk and two sergeants stood at the front, looking serious but undeniably handsome. And between them, a girl with striking features and long, curly hair caught Emily's attention. Emily's eyes, however, were fixed on Hawk. She felt a surge of excitement and nervousness as she quickly made her way to the front row, her heart racing with anticipation. She couldn't help but stare at Hawk, hoping against hope that he would finally notice her. As she reached the front row, Emily's eyes locked onto Hawk's, and for a moment, she thought she saw a flicker of recognition. Her heart skipped a beat, and she felt a flutter in her chest. But then, Hawk's expression turned serious again, and he began to speak to the soldier beside him. Lance and Cassie quickly made their way to Emily's side. "Hey, what's the hurry, Em?" Lance asked, grinning. Cassie giving her a playful pinch for leaving them behind. But before Emily could respond, the principal held up his hand, silencing the room. "Students, please. Our guests have something important to share with you. Let's give them our full attention." One of the Sergeant stepped forward, his eyes scanning the room. "Thank you, Principal. Students, I'm Sergeant Ryder, and I'm here to talk to you about something that could change your lives. You see, we're not just looking for anyone to join the military. We're looking for the best. And we think some of you might just have what it takes." He paused, his voice filling the room. "We're talking about honor, purpose, and making a difference. We're talking about becoming a soldier." The room erupted into whispers and murmurs, but Emily's eyes remained fixed on Hawk, who was watching her with an intensity that made her heart race. She felt a shiver run down her spine as she wondered if he had finally notice her. The female soldier stepped forward with a commanding presence, "Hello, my name is Sergeant Rachel," she introduced herself. "And I'm here to tell you that there's no limit to what you can achieve. Even as seniors, you have the power to make a difference. And don't forget, the best decisions are made when you're still young." The students applauded her words, their faces filled with determination. Hawk step forward, his face was cold as ever but still, the student murmurs filled the air feeling drawing by his handsomeness. "Attention students! If you're interested in joining our military base, listen up!” He said and the Hall fell silent “The application form will be available soon." He announce with a gentle smile. The students erupted into a chorus of excited noise, their voices echoing off the walls. Emily's eyes widened as she listened to Hawk speak. She had always been fascinated by the military, and now she saw this as her chance to join. She felt a surge of excitement and purpose, and she knew she had to take advantage of this opportunity. As the speech came to a close, Hawk dismissed the students, and they filed out of the hall, buzzing with excitement. Emily lingered behind, her mind racing with thoughts of the application form and the possibilities that lay ahead. She knew she had to act fast, and she was ready to take the first step. She excused herself from her friends, feeling a sudden and urgent need to use the restroom. As she hastened towards the bathroom, her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of Hawk. She couldn't shake off the image of his strong jawline and piercing eyes from her mind. After finishing in the bathroom, Emily took a deep breath and exited, hoping to compose herself. But fate had other plans. As she walked out, she was surprised to see Hawk and his colleagues walking out of the school premises. They seemed to expect her to move out of the way, but instead, her eyes locked onto Hawk's, and she felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. "Haw...k," she managed to stammer, her voice barely audible. Hawk furrowed his brows, clearly taken aback by her sudden address. "I'll catch up with you guys later," Hawk said to his colleagues, his eyes never leaving Emily's face. "Hey, pretty, did you notice me?" he asked, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "I noticed you too." Emily's body reacted physically to Hawk's words, her heart racing like a wild animal, and her senses scattering in all directions. She felt a flutter in her chest, and her face grew hot with a blush. She couldn't believe what was happening. Hawk, the strong and confident soldier, was talking to her, and his words were making her feel like she was melting into a puddle. "Y-yes," Emily stuttered, trying to find her voice. "I-I mean, I noticed you too." Just as Hawk was about to say something else, his colleagues called out to him urgently. "Hawk, we need to go! Now!" Hawk's expression turned serious, and he nodded curtly. "Duty calls, pretty. I'll catch you later." With that, he turned and followed his colleagues, leaving Emily standing there, feeling bewildered and wondering if she would ever see him again.
