Abby DelaneyAbby went around the bookstore, dusting the shelves, as well as the tops and spines of the books. Never in her wildest dreams did she ever think she’d be working in a bookstore, much less owning one. When Louise told her she’d transferred the shop to her name, she couldn’t believe it. A lawyer was present, and the three of them had signed the paperwork. It was just like she’d seen in the movies.
She’d been both scared and excited. But now that Madison was back, Abby wondered if things would change between her and Louise. Abby felt a pang of jealousy and quickly berated herself for harboring such selfish thoughts.
“What if she, like, loves her daughter more and then kicks me out of the house?” Abby asked Shelby as soon as she returned from her morning break.
