Louise DelaneyThe following Friday, Louise decided to go with Abby to the bookstore. The last time she’d visited, she turned up in her pajamas; and while it was funny to look back on it, it was a frightful experience. She hated to think about what it might have done to Abby.
“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Abby asked as she took the crutches from Louise and helped her into the car. Philip had taught her how to drive, and she’d aced her driver’s exam—unsurprisingly to everyone else but herself.
“I’ll be fine,” Louise held her breath in as she lowered herself into the passenger’s seat. “Besides, I thought it would be nice for us to spend some time together when I’m not in my pjs,” Louise grinned.
