Alexander. He leaned against the far wall, arms crossed, eyes locked on me like I was a problem he hadn’t decided how to solve yet. “Bold,” he said softly. “Or stupid.” My jaw tightened. “Neither.” A faint smirk touched his lips. Rachel shifted beside me. “Wait… you two already—” “Save it,” I snapped. Was this the help she had brought or a bigger doom? He pushed off the wall and walked toward us. Step-by-step, deliberate. He stopped at my front, smiling in disgust; it was so obvious with his nose wrinkled up. “Who's your father, and what are you guys doing here?” He asked with a vacant expression. “Well ... I ... I needed your help, Alex. She kind of got paired. “It’s him! I got paired with Rachel!!” I snapped, and she opened her eyes in shock. Immediately Alex burst into laughter. “Thought you could get rid of me… Sorry. You got a name or something?” he whispered, biting his lips. "Yes, dickhead…. Jordan's the name," I blurted in annoyance and stepped out, dragging Rachel, who was still gawking in shock. “After what you did today, Jordan, you're doomed," he said and shut the door. As soon as we got downstairs, Rachel seemed to gain her senses back as she screamed. Passing cliques stared at her with funny looks. "You pushed…pushed him off a chair???? Insulted him, Jordaannn… It's your first day, and you're already creating chaos." She started talking non-stop. “He doesn't forgive,” she whispered. ”Yeah, whatever," I scoffed and walked away to the basketball court while she ran after me. “Jordan I mean it. You have to beg," she deadpanned. I stared at her with looks that could kill a bird. "You're joking, right? I gnawed. “No, I'm not, baby girl." She shook her face in mine and dragged my hand as we walked up out of the basketball court. I whipped my hand from hers. “I can't believe you," I scoffed and left her standing alone. “Jordan!!” She kept on yelling my name, but I refused to reply. *** ****** **** ** Sitting in the school garden, I listened to my mom's voice over and over again on my phone. Playing it repeatedly as I reminisced about earlier today. “He doesn't forgive," Rachel's voice sounded in my head. "Pfft...and so what?” I muttered. I didn't notice someone staring at me. I was so engrossed in my own thoughts. “Sorry, are you ok?” He said, and I jumped up in shock. “What the hell!” I yelled. "Sorry. You kind of looked mad talking to yourself like that." He smiled. “Didn’t mean to scare you." I recognized that smile; it was the boy from earlier. The dude with golden hair and brown hair. “I know you, golden boy." I squinted, and he laughed. His laughter was so soft, very calming. I suddenly felt at ease. "Golden boy?” he asked, and I nodded, pointing towards his hair. “Ohhhh” he mouthed and continued laughing. I stood with arms folded, staring in between smiles. "Oh... "Sorry, I'm James. James Norman," he said and stretched his hand out for a handshake. “Jordan,” I replied. "Ohhhk... No handshakes. "No surnames, noted," he nodded. I sighed and sat down. “Norman, huh?. So you're from the Norman family. The biggest shareholders and what else?” I asked. “Top investing companies involved in estates and stuff," he muttered, waving his hand dismissively. I immediately got the signal that he didn't want to talk about it. We went silent for a while before he broke the silence. “Jordan, huh?" he laughed awkwardly. “The student blog has your name on it, haters and fans,” he said and laughed. “He laughs a lot,” my inner voice said, and I chuckled. “What?” “Nothing. Just that the dude was being arrogant," I replied. I found myself suddenly comfortable; usually I would have walked away if it was someone else, but I just found myself sitting here and comfortable at that. ”You shouldn't have pushed him off the chair… After all, he's a Santiago," he shrugged. Santiago…. Have heard the name somewhere…. Santia… Oh no!! I just realized I have heard a lot about them. They were Dad's business partners, and my stepsisters mentioned them a lot, especially about a hot Alex, but I didn't know it was this guy. I hit my forehead. “Now you remember?” he chuckled slightly. "Ugh... Whatever, he deserved it," I whispered with a low voice. “Well then. Be prepared for war," he laughed. "Tell me about yourself." He smiled. “Nothing relevant to know," I muttered and stood up. “So sorry… I didn't mean to make you feel inconvenienced," he quickly apologized. “It’s not you really. I have to get to work. Am new, remember?” I shrugged, and he nodded. "Well, nice to meet you, James." “Same Jordan” I turned on my heels and left. √√√√√√√√√ I hurriedly walked down the garden trying to get to my dorm quickly. I hadn't arranged my stuff, and I needed to do something about the class of rooms. When I got to my room, I was met by a surprise. Someone had demarcated the room with a huge thick curtain, and my size of the room was extremely small. But I got the bathroom at least. “Who did this s**t? Why is he always trying to annoy me so bad?” I growled, curling my fist. Swinging my hands, I marched up the stairs, but I collided into my prey, or should I say, predator. “I need to talk to you privately," I said and folded my arms. He rolled his eyes in boredom. "Again," he muttered with hooded eyes that made heart palpitate. “She wants it in private." Damien smirked and winked at me. I only stared back in complete disgust. "Now," I said, but this time with invisible wobbling feet, everyone had started staring again. Who wasn't interested in what will happen again?? “Get out of my way, Jordan," he whispered in annoyance and tightened jaws, but the only thing that came to my mind was how my name sounded soft on his lips. “Stop admiring and move, senorita," Damien snapped. I could use a punch right now. I stepped forward, but Alexander pushed me back. “I allowed you to do your thing the first time, but you don't know when to stop, do you?? and since you don't want to stop. It's my turn." His eyes darkened. His hand hit my shoulder, and in one sharp motion, he shoved me backward. I stumbled— My foot missed the step. Gasps exploded around us. “Jordan!” Rachel screamed. My heart dropped as I reached for the railing, barely catching it before I fell further. He leaned down slightly, voice low, only for me. “Careful,” he said coldly. “Next time, I won’t stop you from falling.” And just like that… he walked away.
