Chapter Eight

- Ella's P.O.V -

I looked over to my alarm clock as it read out 5:59am and walked over to it my hand hovering over it waiting for it to screech at me to get up not ten seconds later the happy little thing awoke signaling 6am and i smacked my hand down to silence it and give the dreadful machine a headache for the day or so i like to think to myself anyway i allowed myself to smile at the satisfaction i got knowing i was awake and waiting for it to join me, just then there was a knock on the door taking the silence and my smile with it "Ella? i know you're awake and by the quickness of your hand have been for a while, please let me in so we can talk" it was Henry i couldn't help but roll my eyes as i walked over to the bedroom door and unlocked it leaving it for him to open i walked away and once again returned to my perch on the windowsill Henry must of known i wasn't going to invite him in and let himself in and closing the door quietly " it's just me Marcus and dad have gone out hunting they found some tracks near the cabin last night and wanted to follow them my eyes went wide when he said this and my thought strayed back to the black wolf and of Chase before i settled myself realizing that Chase wouldn't of let the wolf out all night risking him to be hurt by people like my family, " look about last night i can only imagine what you was told came as a shock i grew up knowing everything and... look just come down and help me cook would you i burn water if given the chance" Henry scowled slightly at the thought of cooking i nodded my head and walked into the bathroom to get washed and dressed for the day.

As i pulled my vest top over my head and bent down to zip up my army style boots i heard Marcus and Emerson's voices float from outside and stilled " they gave us the slip again Marcus it's been like this for the past 2 months or so we find tracks and follow them and they end up leading nowhere i think they have caught on to us being in the area" grumbled Emerson i let out a breath i didn't know i was holding knowing the black wolf from last night hadn't been killed " i'll hang around for awhile if this pack is planning an attack on you then i need to stay close to help protect Ella i owe her parents that much...." that was the last part of the conversation i heard before the main door banged shut they seriously think they are hunters of the supernatural? i thought to myself "jesus i have a family of fruit loops " i commented to the air around me as i finished fastening my boots and headed for my bedroom door to go cook breakfast i decided to give up the pretense that i couldn't cook since i opened the door to Marcus he had often caught me in the kitchen with the cook and would often be my taste tester,

as i reached the ground floor Marcus and Emerson was just coming back from the basement marcus tried to get my attention by smiling at me but i just ignored him and went off to make scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes as i busied myself Henry stood and watched me as i moved around the kitchen gathering the things i wanted and mixing bowls and turning things over in pans " i thought you couldn't cook Ella?" frowned Henry obviously mad that i had lied without even looking up from the pan with the pancakes in i heard Emerson coming in " well now you know what it's like to be lied to don't you" i smirked at them both as i took the latest pancake out of the pan and placed it on a plate beside the stove and placing more batter in the pan before going back to the scrambled eggs " Ella we didn't mean to lie to you, we was trying to do what your parents had wanted for you to live a normal life without all of this casting a shadow over you" emerson had come to stand beside me and tried to pinch a slice of bacon only to end up with burnt fingers and a smack of the spatula to the back of the hand "ouch what the... " the sound of laughter from the other side of the room told me that Marcus had joined us "yeah don't pinch food or you get hit " chuckled Marcus he'd learned that the hard way.

After five more minuets of Emerson and Henry trying to pinch food as i cooked and all attempts ending with a smack of a spatula or the plate been moved as they checked to see if i was looking we all sat down to eat at the table Marcus had laughed for the entire five minuets especially when i had moved the plate out of their way the looks on there faces was that of confusion and shock and although i had managed to school my face into that of annoyance i was secretly happy that the house was full of laughter and banter at their attempts to get food from me i placed it all on the table as well as the plates and forks and sat down to eat everyone waiting till i got mine Emerson and Henry rubbing the back of their offended hands and Marcus chuckling still at their faces watching the food like naughty puppies hoping to be fed i piled up my plate and nodded my head and all three men raced to pile up there plates with food and began eating grunts and groans could be heard from all three as i sat and ate quietly i had a silent bet with myself at who would bring up last night first and lost when Emerson spoke " seen as you now know what we do Ella me and Marcus want you to join us on a hunt tonight so you can see for yourself that the things we told you about are real, we picked up tracks just south of hear and we want to see where they lead" i looked shocked for a moment as i tried to get my baring's was south where the black wolf dropped me off? " that's south right?" i asked pointing my fork in the direction the Black wolf had left me, " no that way is west, this way is south" said emerson pointing behind him, which was left of where i walked last night i nodded my head and finished my breakfast picking up my plate and going into the kitchen to wash it and put it on the rack to air dry,

"i'm going to go get changed and go for a little run along the dirt road i shouldn't be long" i called as i walked to the stairs and shot up them i got changed into a pair of black leggings and a sports bra and my running trainers and headed back downstairs with my iphone and headphones " leave the music Ella i'm coming with you so we can catch up properly" said marcus as he stretched out by the door i ignored him and placed one ear bud in my ear and wrapped the other around the strap of my top and slid my iphone into the secret pocket on my leggings "fine but if your coming with me we can run thru the woods" i said as i headed out of the door and started jogging in the direction i had pointed to earlier wondering if he will say about the direction i chose to run but he said nothing.

- Chase's P.O.V -

I had been watching the cabin all night i had heard The girl having nightmares and then getting up and and moving around and eventually sitting on the windowsill i watched her as she laughed to herself and the knock on her bedroom door i couldn't help when someone entered her room and sat next to her, spoke to her like she was a maid i couldn't help but let out a small growl at the thought of my mate being treated so poorly but i now know her name was Ella and it was as beautiful as the girl herself when she had moved away from the window i had ran off back to the pack ground to make an appearance for breakfast if i didn't may parents and the pack would wonder where i had gone off to. the pack house sat 30 miles away from the cabin and was closer to the border then my parents liked we had a community that spanned over 50 miles to the south of the pack house and my parents was in the middle of building a new pack house more central to to the community that we had to outsiders it was a town on the edge of another town and that was what we wanted although in total our territory was around 110 miles around and the nearest pack to us was the fallen fang pack which was in over by the next human town within our community we had restaurants, theaters, and a small shopping complex which made us look more like a town then most other packs.

As usual the pack house was full of energy their wasn't a single given moment when there wasn't something going on inside this house and it sometimes drove me crazy especially when all i wanted was quiet that was why i was glad i had a room at the top of the house that was only accessible to the highest ranks we had our own living room and entertainment room the only time we ever had to really go down was to eat or to actually interact with people and train. As normal there was a stack of 30 plates sat on the side and a group of omega's in the kitchen working tirelessly to prepare breakfast for over 50+ wolves that live in the pack house and there family who like to join them we also catered to the orphan wolves of our pack at one point if a pup was orphaned before there first shift they was taken to the nearest human town and dropped off at there orphanages but my grandmother had put a stop to that and made my grandfather build an orphanage here on our territory so that when they turned 18 and they shifted for the first time they wouldn't be so scared and alone my grandmother was a orphan her parents had died in a war against the vampires so when she met my grandfather her first act as Luna was to strong arm my grandfather and the C.O.A into abolishing that particular law and create the first home for orphan pups since then there was at least one orphanage in each state across america and some in europe " are you alright man?" i jumped as Rain snuck up beside me braking me from my thoughts " yeah man just thinking about the past, are the pups hear yet?" i asked as he grabbed a plate and then put it back knowing i hated to eat before the pups from the orphanage " they have already eaten sir, some are the pups are sick and we asked Luna and Alpha if we could send food to them instead of them dragging the sick pups out here making them worse" replied an Omega as she bowed her head realizing she had spoken without been spoken to i held up my hand and Rain was about to tell the poor Omega off for speaking out of turn " thank you what is wrong with them?" i asked " i'm not sure sir all i know is that they are sick" was the reply i got as she bowed and walked away finishing her morning chorus, i took my plate and put what i wanted on it and sat down to eat making a mental note to visit the orphanage later that day to see how the sick pups was and to see if there was anything i could do to help.
