- Ella's P.O.V - i was sat by my window sill looking out into the forest thinking of my parents when a knock sounded on my door braking me from my reprieve " yeah" i sighed as i turned to see the door open and Marcus standing their with a tight smile on his face, i had only been upstairs for half an hour since the strange conversation between Emerson and Marcus had happened i was still confused as to why i only learned of Emerson and Henry when my parents were dead and i couldn't ask them why the only answer i would get would be from Emerson or Marcus and i wasn't sure if i could trust what they told me because i couldn't get it from the ones who should of told me " Ella supper is getting cold sweetie, you should come and eat" marcus was speaking as softly as he could as if i was still a little girl who was sulking because i had broken my favorite toy "i'm not hungry uncle Marcus" i sighed again as i shook my head and looked back out of the window watching the wind blow the leaves on the ground near a cluster of bushes, i heard him come closer to me and felt his leg brush against mine as he sat beside me with his back to the window " what's eating up at you Ella?" he asked nudging me slightly i thought about saying it was nothing but i knew the only way to get him to leave me to my thoughts was to just tell him " why didn't i know i had family other then you and my parents until my mom and dad was taken away? why did it take for my parents to be ran off the road for me to meet them didn't they want to know me? " i asked never taking my eyes off the trees and bushes outside " of course they did but what happened, happened a long time ago Ella before you was born.. before you was even thought of and it has nothing to do with you Emerson and Henry know that and they won't ever treat you badly because of what happened" he had placed a hand on my shoulder as he spoke to me again in that same voice from before, after a moment of thinking i looked away from the window and straight into his eye's " what happened uncle Marcus why did they fall out ?" it was the only question that came to mind that i really needed the answer to " come down and eat something and we'll tell you what happened but you need to eat" Marcus had stood up while talking and held out his hand for me to take i looked at it blankly for a moment before placing my hand in his and allowed him to pull me to my feet and lead me down to the kitchen. -Emerson's P.O.V - Marcus had gone upstairs to try and convince Ella to come down for supper i knew from the day i had received the letter from the solicitor that i was her only living relative that she would find out what we really was and i feared it for its a life that her mother never wanted for her but her father had trained her for just incase what we hunted came for her. It had been ten minutes since Marcus had gone upstairs and i was getting anxious i had no idea what was wrong with her or why she had shot off up the stairs and to that end i didn't know what Marcus was telling her had he told her about what we are, what her parents were or maybe the fight that had drove us all apart from the tight knitted family we was to the stranger we had become? just as i stood up from my chair to go up and drag Ella down for food i heard foot fall on the stairs signalling that Marcus had convinced Ella down to eat i sat back down quick earning a funny look from Henry " shut up boy" i chuckled slightly earning me a chuckle in return from him " ok lets eat" i said as they reached the bottom step. As we sat down at the table Ella just stared at her dish like it had done something unspeakable to her " Ella, you need to eat.... Please" pleaded Marcus who sat across the table from her she nodded her head keeping her eyes cast down taking a spoonful of her stew before speaking " their i've started eating now someone tell me why my parents never told me about you and Henry please" she asked in a slightly angry tone which i could understand " it's a long story Ella and there are things that will not make sense to you but we will help you understand the best we can but you will need to understand that it is the way we was brought up and the way it had been for centuries and will be for a long time to come there is no changing that" i spoke softly bracing myself for the family truths that Henry knew from an early age and grew up knowing which was the opposite to Ella from the brief conversation i had with Marcus while Ella was upstairs both of her parents had wanted to keep her away from this life and as soon as she was conceived they abandoned the hunt and kept their heads down only keeping in touch with a few people from their old life i felt the need to stall a little so i said " finish eating and i'll make coffee and we can sit and i'll tell you everything i know as will Marcus and we will answer all the questions you have... okay?" Ella let out a sigh and nodded her head reluctantly before silence engulfed the table and everyone finished eating i saw from the corner of my eye Henry looking at Ella from time to time giving her a small smile as a show of reassurance that it will be ok but not a word was spoken until the meal was finished " Marcus want to help make coffee while i wash up these dishes" i asked as i stood up taking the plates from the table as Marcus picked up the crock pot and glasses and followed me into the kitchen, Marcus had been here before and he knew where everything was and after placing the dishes he had carried in on the counter next to the sink he busied himself making a pot of coffee " man what are we telling her?" asked Marcus facing me and resting his hip on the side crossing his arms over his chest " the truth we can't lie to her Marc she has had that her whole life and she needs to know where she truly comes from.. doesn't she?" i asked unsure myself that the truth would be best what if it damaged the memories she had of her parents or worse got her hurt " i've been trying since Ella turned 13 to get her parents to tell her everything the only answer i ever got was why? they had left that life and didn't want her to be a part of it, but now i dont know ill follow your lead" he replied as he finished making the coffee and i dried my hands. -Ella's P.O.V - i watched as Emerson and Marcus vanish into the kitchen to wash the dishes and make coffee i stood and went into the living room curling up in a well worn chair that was strangely comfortable for something that would look like it break if anyone even thought of sitting on it i took the blanket that was draped across the back and covered my legs as Henry walked in and sat on the floor setting up the fire it was the middle of autumn but but it felt like the dead of winter on a night i watched at Henry piled the fire wood in the hearth and prayed that he didn't bother talking to me because all he ever seemed to do was make snide comments and treat me like a dam maid but sadly it wasn't my lucky day "you ok?" he asked as he finished with the fire and stood up wiping his hands on his trousers and went and sat in the couch next to me leaning back and resting his arms behind his head i looked at him like he had two heads "ok what gives, your never this nice to me... did you bang your head?" i asked searching for a lump or a bump on his head he sat their chuckling a little at me "nothing forget i said anything" he said shaking his head as Emerson and Marcus entered the living room with a tray with cups and a pot of coffee on it Marcus set the tray on the small coffee table that sat in the middle of the sitting area i felt every agonizing second as they sat down and poured everyone a cup of coffee and sat back when they finished i cleared my throat and raised my eyebrow at them " ok.. ok i know " remarked Emerson as he let out a large sigh as Marcus leaned forward resting his elbows on his knees and holding his cup between them " before we tell you Ella there is something you must understand, no matter what gets said in here stays in here and you need to know that your parents only wanted the best for you and they loved you so much that they was willing to die for you if they had to" Marcus stared hard at me for a moment to make sure i understood what he was saying and i nodded my head.
