From The Moon Goddess

Chapter Four

- Ella's P.O.V. -

I was absolutely wiped out as i made my way up the stairs to my bedroom to take a long shower and to get changed out of my gym clothes and into something more comfortable as i dragged my legs down the hallway and into my bedroom i saw my bed and wanted to do nothing but throw myself down and stay their but i boycotted my bed and went into the bathroom as i stripped and waited for the shower to warm up slightly i smiled as i thought back to the last time i had felt my muscles ache so much it was before my parents accident and i had been in our home gym with my dad he had always insisted in me training to defend myself to train hard and to never give up no matter how bad my muscles hurt i had to keep going he had always said it was so i could defend myself from predators if i was ever attacked while on my own but the type of training my father made me do was a little excessive my training began when i was 8 years old and continued and progressed until he passed away.

as i stood under the spray from the shower i tried to stop myself from crying i missed my father so much and training with Emerson reminded me of him his training style was similar to my fathers and the way he pushed me seemed similar to, i stayed under the water for a few minutes collecting myself before the water started to cool down i quickly got washed and jumped out wrapping a big fluffy towel around myself to keep the cool air from my skin i quickly got dried and dressed in a pair of ripped jeans and a tank top with my black vans and headed back downstairs for supper again not making any form of eye contact with my bed, as i reached the bottom i could hear Emerson and Henry talking as Henry did this bobble head sort of move before Emerson just laughed i was about to laugh to when i heard a knock at the door " i'll get it " i yelled as i skipped to the door and grasped the handle just as the door began to open i heard Emerson yell behind me " Wait El..." but it was to late i had the door open and standing in the doorway was marcus my honorary uncle who had been my dad's oldest friend it took a moment for my eyes to register it was him i thought that since my dad was dead i would never get the chance to see him again " uncle Marcus!" i squealed as i threw my arms around his neck and hung on for dear life "Ella?... oh my god Ella!" after realizing it was me Marcus wrapped his arms around my back and hugged me tight " Ella im so sorry i wasn't there for the funeral i.. i didn't know or i would of been there" he spoke into my ear before setting me down and holding me by the shoulders and then looked over my head towards the kitchen " Emerson when you called and said not to be shocked i didn't expect to see my goddaughter opening the door how long has she been here?" Asked Marcus with concern lacing his voice " just under a month" replied Emerson shrugging his shoulders slightly " if i'd of known that you had still visited with Sam i would of contacted you sooner but no one told me, did Sam know you stayed in touch with me? " asked Emerson looking straight at Marcus asif i had vanished threw a wall and into the forest outside " im sorry Emerson i was told to keep quiet about it... you can understand why with what happened here before..." Marcus had taken a step closer to Emerson while i stood rooted to the floor while watching the verbal tennis match between the two " yo, Marcus how have you been ma.... what's going on in hear Ella ? " asked Henry as he strode into the room and noticed the situation that had been going on all eyes turned to me as Henry reminded the two men that i had been standing right their so many questions had been running threw my head in the fraction of a minuet before i threw my hands up in the air and turned on my heels and headed up the stairs shouting over my shoulder that i had no idea the truth was i was curious as to what happened before i was born between my mother and her cousin and why my father had made Marcus keep his visits a secret from Emerson.

- Chase's P,O,V -

I had been running for over an hour when i picked up a scent on the border of our territory it was faint but it made my wolf anxious it was a familiar scent which wasn't one of our pack members it was the scent of hunters i hated hunters they would come into our territory and kill any wolf they saw weather it was a child or an adult and it infuriated me to no end and i like others of my race wanted the hunters to disappear they was relentless and wouldn't stop once they had picked up a trail of our kind, the warriors in our pack often made fales tracks every couple of days when a hunter has been close by to our territory and we minimized the exiting of our territory in wolf form to a minimum if we had to make trips to nearby packs we would travel in car although it did take more time then it would for us to shift and run it was safer for the pack as a whole i mind linked my father

Chase - " dad i've just picked up a scent of a hunter i'm going to check it out so if you can give me an hour or so before you send out a scatter party it will save having to do it again later"

Alpha - " Chase don't you dare follow it, it could be a trap to lure us out i want you to return now"

Chase - " the scent if a good few days old and i've followed the full perimeter and this is the only point i have picked it up, i will be careful and stay back if it gets to strong and return then"

Alpha - " Chase i.... fine i will give you one hour before i send a search party where does the scent start? "

i couldn't help but chuckle to myself knowing my mother had pleaded my case and won.

Chase - " north east line of the border its right on the line " i replied quickly before beginning to follow it over the border and into the unclaimed land beyond

Alpha - " stay alert and keep in contact so we can send help if you need it son "

that was the last thing i heard before i closed my mind link off and concentrated on the scent i was chasing, there was something strange about this scent it was mixed with another but it wasn't a fermillier one it seemed to excite my wolf and confuse it all at once but it stopped after a few miles and the other carried on weaving in and out of clearings and moving closer then further from the border of our territory before it shot off towards the main road we used in and out of the territory which lead to the nearby town i looked around for any sign of the hunters camping out by the road but there was nothing except the smell of urine against one tree where someone had relieved themselves a day or two ago the scent around this are was pretty old but their was a stronger smell of the other scent had picked up earlier the one that had my wolf excited but that to was not fresh i spent another twenty minutes searching around seeing if i could pick up either of the scents again but to no avail when my father mind linked me

Alpha - " progress report Chase?"

Chase - " scent stopped at the road that leads into town its a day or so old no sign of camping out or staking out of the road looks like a normal search and kill set up but the area needs clearing incase they decide to come back"

Alpha - " ok come back in and i'll send the team out the run a trail"

ok was my only reply as i turned tail and returned the way i had come to make the task of a fake trail much easier on the warriors as i made my way back my wolf seemed to become uneasy about the second scent he didn't want to stop searching for the owner of it but i assured him that if we came across it again we would follow it to its owner as i reached the border of our territory i heard a rustling from a nearby bush i crouched down and let out a low growl as a warning before a wolf emerged and i rolled my eyes stood in front of me was April the annoying she wolf who thought i wanted her even though i had never given her an ounce of encouragement some she wolves are born crazy and think they are entitled the world and this particular she wolf drove me insane when we was young cubs she would follow me around like a lost lamb and when we grew up she began to flirt with not just me but everyone around me in the hopes to get a position close to me which might get her the Luna position she craved but i was onto her and i knew i would have my mother on my side if father ever tried to give her the title of Luna i was determined to find my true mate and Luna an no blonde haired entitled b***h was going to pull me away from that goal.

April " Chase what are you doing out hear i came to see you baby but you wasn't at home and i was worried about you"

Chase " what do you want April i don't have time for distractions today"

April " awe baby don't be like that you know you have missed me.... wait where are you going?"

while she had been standing there trying to start a conversation but only succeeding in annoying my by calling me 'baby' i had began walking towards the pack house "stop and stay there while i shift would you" i mind linked to her as i twisted my neck to see her stop " maybe we could shift back together" she linked back with sultry lacing her voice i let out a low warning growl which translated to try it and ill rip you to pieces she got the message and bowed her head showing submission by showing her neck to me mentally nodding my head ii walked behind a nearby tree and began to shift back into my human form i laid down and thought about everything that made me human i pictured in my mind what i looked like from my hair down to my toes i thought about the feel of my skin against my fingertips and the earth underneath my my body soon enough my wolf gave up control and my body shedded itself of its fur watching as it fell to the ground and disappeared into the earth my bones began to pop and crack as the reformed themselves my muzzle turned back into my mouth my hind legs popped then popped again as they re- positioned themselves and my tail shrank back to nothing more then a normal coxit within a minuet i was bent on the ground as a human as naked as the day i was born i quickly re-dressed and stepped out to see that April as instructed had not moved from where i left her i stepped away from the tree and looked down at her " your free to shift now i have pack business to attend to" was all i said to her before i walked away leaving her sat within the tree line.
