Chapter 6 POV Mark

2948 Words
POV MARK When Amelia took a phone call from some guy called Robert I could actually feel my blood boiling because I was so angry. She had told me she didn’t have a boyfriend but clearly this man was close to her. I could hear everything this guy was saying and I wanted to track him down and kick the s**t out of him for even talking to her. I heard him call her Millie and I hated that he had a nickname for her. Then he said ‘dads home on Friday’ and she said she was looking forward to seeing ‘dad’ and I felt relieved to know that this guy Robert was her brother. Especially when she said “night night, love you” I let out a sigh of relief but then when she said she had to leave I was devastated. I could actually feel my lip begin to tremble. I had told my girlfriend that I was working a night shift at work and that I wouldn’t be home until the morning. I had planned on spending the whole night with Amelia but I had forgot to take into account that she was a busy woman and she had a full life of her own. My girlfriend was so needy with me that she would literally drop any plans she had just to be with me but Amelia was independent and I appreciated how dedicated she was to her job. We kissed before she left and I felt better when she said she wanted to see me again on Thursday. I waved her off at the door and got onto the huge bed and I couldn’t sleep because I couldn’t stop thinking about her. I finally managed to drift off to sleep and when I woke up on my own I was kind of feeling sorry for myself. I immediately sent her a message telling her that I’d had an amazing time with her and that I couldn’t wait to see her again. I got into the shower and I regretted that she wasn’t with me. I started to think about our s*x from the night before and I made myself come as I thought about pressing her t**s against the window and how hard she had came on my d**k. I got out the shower and got dressed and when I looked at my phone it was nearly 9 am and there was no message back from Amelia. Although I was kind of hurt I knew that she would already be in surgery and that she couldn’t exactly check her phone every two minutes. I went straight home and my girlfriend had already left for work. I looked at my phone and I had a text from my best mate asking me to meet him to watch a game of football on Thursday. I text him back to say that I was meeting a woman and that I really liked her. He sent me back loads of laughing face emojis and I text him back that she was the best shag of my life with the best t**s I’d ever seen and he text me back that I was a lucky bastard. I made myself some breakfast and I was glad that my girlfriend wasn’t there because although I had fallen out of love with Cheryl a long time ago, since I met Amelia even the thought of Cheryl made my skin crawl. I knew I had to end it with her as soon as I could but it was difficult because although it was my house she had lived there with me for a long time and I knew it would be hard to get rid of her. The last time she caught me texting a girl from work she went ballistic. We had been sending each other flirty texts. The girl wasn’t much to look at but just the knowledge that she wasn’t my girlfriend made it exciting. Before I knew it the girl from work sent me a naked photo and I sent her one of me back. My girlfriend went through my phone and when she confronted me I didn’t have a leg to stand on. I admitted the whole thing and she was angry and I couldn’t blame her. I told her I did it because I was bored of her. She became so upset and begged me to stay with her. I felt bad that I had hurt her because I had been cheated on by my wife so I decided to continue being with her but after that I had lost all respect I had for her and that’s when I joined the hook up app. But now I had met Amelia and she was everything I had ever wanted in a woman I had no need for that stupid app or my girlfriend. Later that day I checked my phone and there still was nothing back from Amelia. I thought she would still be at work so I messaged her again asking if we were still on for Thursday and if she wanted to meet at the same hotel again. By the next day I was beginning to panic so I sent a couple more messages and by Thursday morning I was obsessively looking at my phone every two minutes. By Saturday I realised that she had ghosted me and I had never been so heartbroken before because although I didn’t really know her I had really fallen for her. I knew I could easily find her because I knew her full name and occupation but I thought back to when my girlfriend had begged me to stay with her and I didn’t want Amelia to be with me out of pity. I needed her to want me as much as I wanted her. I had never met anyone like her but that was that, she had made up her mind and I was really hurt. She was the first woman I had opened my heart up to in a long time and it had left me heart broken. I couldn’t talk to my friends about it because they would have laughed at how soppy I was being. Three weeks passed and every one in my life had noticed how down I was. My best friend took me out for a drink and said that my girlfriend had asked him to speak to me because she was worried about me. I finally admitted to him that I was heart broken and that the girl I had told him that I liked had stoped answering my messages and that she had ghosted me. He said that I had to try and get over her and that it wasn’t meant to be, so I did what I always did, I went onto the hook up app and I arranged to meet the first woman I could find because I had to get Amelia out of my head. Two months passed and I had slept with at least 6 different women but none of them compared to Amelia. She was the first woman I had ever wanted to see again because I couldn’t get enough of her but these woman were only good until I had come and then I was bored of them. It was Saturday night at 9 pm and I was standing in a hotel room putting on my cloths after another boring hook up. I’d finally managed get rid of the woman I had just had s*x with and she asked me to see her again. I didn’t want to be totally rude so I said I would think about it but there was no chance I ever wanted to see her again. Firstly she wasn’t exactly my type. I had put into the search bar brunette with big t**s and when nothing was available so I settled for a blonde. When she got there I was already regretting settling for her and when she took off her cloths I was really disappointed. She had fake t**s and when she took off her panties she had thick dark hair and she obviously wasn’t a real blonde. I had always hated any kind of pubic hair on a woman and when I seen her I think I actually let out an obnoxious over the top sigh. I instantly thought about Amelia’s smooth wet p***y and picturing her was the only reason I could get hard. I put on a condom and had s*x with this women but she was making fake s*x noises and it was putting me off. I closed my eyes and pictured Amelia. Flashes of her licking my balls came into my mind and then I thought about when I was f*****g her on the table the first night we met and how wet she had been. I had watched us together in the mirror and the vision of her wearing nothing but stockings and heels was burned into my memory. Then I pictured her sitting eating chips and smiling whilst she was wearing my shirt. She had her legs crossed and I could see her glistening p***y and that’s when I came. The woman I was with said it was the best s*x of her life and I just wanted rid of her so I could have a shower and I could get back to work. She let herself out and I made myself come again in the shower. That’s when I realised that I preferred to do it on my own because I could just think about Amelia without my dirty thoughts being interrupted by some skank shrieking in my ear. I started to get dressed and that’s when my phone rang and it was my boss. “Mark, I need you to drop what your doing and meet me. They’ve found the dead body of a man that was reported missing yesterday.” I put on my suit jacket “no problem, I’m on my way” I got to the location and I was surprised that it was a doctors office. The building was cut off with police tape and I made my way through and the forensics were already there and my boss gave me the details. “His name is Dr Jeremy Logan, his wife reported him missing on Friday evening when he didn’t return home from work. Two of our officers found him tonight when they were investigating his where about’s” I looked at the poor guy slumped over his desk and he was around my age “cause of death?” I asked and one of the forensic team said “he’s been strangled from behind” I looked at his desk and there was a photo of him and a woman in a wheelchair. “That’s his wife” said my boss and although I felt bad for her I had been doing this job for too long and it had made me emotionless. “Strangulation is usually a crime of passion, I don’t think his wife would have the strength to do this” my boss nodded his head. The forensic officer said “no this was definitely a man, the markings on his neck indicate that the person has rather large hands. There’s no finger prints so he must have been wearing gloves” “there’s no sign of forced entry so he must have known the person and let him in” I said, and then my boss asked “what are you thinking?” I shrugged my shoulders “maybe one of his patients, the certificates on the wall say that he’s a therapist.” My boss agreed with me immediately “yeah, poor guy was probably trying to treat some lunatic and the bastard killed him” I looked around the room “but there’s no signs of a fight or struggle, and it’s warm outside. This is premeditated to bring gloves with him” I turned to one of the other detectives “can you get me the list of people he seen on Friday and the name and address of any one else that works here.” He nodded his head and went out to the reception room. “There’s one last thing, his lap top is still on and it is open at the case file of one of his patients. It’s a Mrs Ferguson but according to this she hasn’t been to see him for at least six months. Her address is here, maybe you should give her a visit” I glanced at the file and it said that she had stopped turning up for her appointments and that she refused to take his calls when he had tried to invite her back for her treatment. I couldn’t help but think about Amelia and how she had ghosted me and ignored my message’s but I had to put her to the back of my mind because I had work to do. The next morning I got up and I was relieved that my girlfriend was away for the week. Things with us were awful and she had went to visit a friend up north that had just had a baby. Before she left she said that she couldn’t wait to start a family and I knew I had to end things with her sooner rather than later. I went to the gym and then went to the police station to meet one of the other detectives about the new murder case. Her name was Mary and I had worked with her before and she was good at her job. We had became friends and I had even went to her wedding, but Mary and her wife only lasted two years before their divorce and she said it was part of the job and I agreed that it was hard to have a good relationship when you were married to the force. We went to speak to Dr Jeremy Logan’s wife and the poor woman was traumatised. She was in a wheelchair as a result of an accident she’d had a few years ago and I felt sorry for her that now she had lost her husband as well. Although they didn’t have any children which was kind of a blessing. I hated visiting the families of people to ask difficult questions when they had just lost a loved one, especially when there was kids in the house. We went to his receptionists house and she had no idea that Dr Logan had been found dead. She was only a young girl and she explained that she had left early for a dentist appointment and that he was alone in the office because his last appointment had cancelled. She said that sometimes he would stay late to finish writing up his notes from that day but that she thought he didn’t want to go home. When I asked her why she said that he clearly didn’t like his wife and that she seemed like a burden to him since her accident. I could understand how he felt because I hated going home to my girlfriend. We stoped for a coffee and Mary was telling me that she had started seeing someone. She said she was a nice woman and she had met her on a dating app. I was happy for her but really I couldn’t help but feel jealous because I wanted nothing more than to be with Amelia. We drank our coffee and headed over to speak to this woman Mrs Ferguson. I was intrigued to know why he had been looking up her file when he hadn’t seen her in so long. Maybe he had a thing for her or maybe he was just worried about his patient because she hadn’t contacted him. We pulled up to her house and Mary let out a long, loud whistle “this place is amazing, I bet Mrs Ferguson must be worth a bit of money to live here” I parked the car and knocked on the door and an older lady opened the door with a huge smile “Mrs Ferguson, I’m chief inspector Mark Jackman and this is my colleague detective Mary Burn” I said as I flashed her my ID “can we come in and speak to you?” The huge smile dropped from her face “Is everything alright?” She asked and I could see the panic on her face “can we come in?” I repeated and she said “of course” we went inside and the house was sleek and modern and not what I was expecting from this old lady. When she closed the door she said “I’m not Mrs Ferguson, I’m the housekeeper Maria, but I will get her for you” she started to shout through to the other room and that’s when I noticed suit cases by the front door. I nudged Mary to notice them and her eye brows shot up. It wasn’t unusual for someone to try and get away if they were involved in a murder but it also wasn’t unusual for someone to go on holiday so I couldn’t be too suspicious about the suit cases. We stood there for a moment and I could hear the older lady say “it’s the police, they want to speak to you” and that’s when she came through to the hallway and it was her, it was Amelia and I felt like my legs were about to buckle from under me.
