Charles POV. I wait in this dark room, destined to carry out the unthinkable. I imagine how Reina might feel being forced to watch as we fight for her. The King rules ruthlessly. My only mistake was falling for the beautiful princess. Though we grew up together, I am beneath her, I am just a stable hand. If my father hadn’t been accepted into this pack when I was just four months old who knows where we would be. My father was a rogue when he found me abandoned. Having just lost his wife and son in the war he couldn’t bear to leave me behind. His entire pack was eliminated so he sought the safest most protected pack that he could be a part of. Due to his skills in the stables and training he was made to be the stable master for the King himself with persuasion from the Queen. She was pregnant with the heir at the time. The last Stable Master had passed away from old age and the queen had a passion for animals so she wanted the best, seeing his experience, the king was happy to give his Queen what she wanted. They even gave him a house on the property. ** But that is exactly what led me here today facing princess Reina’s arranged fiancé, today was her 18th birthday. She was due to be married to a prince from the Kingdom in the North for an alliance. Two days ago the king was showing around the grounds, the newly arrived Prince Eric, Reina and I in the stable’s together.. Of course the way it looked the king believed Reina was being taken advantage of. Prince Eric thought it was the most offensive thing as his bride to be had her innocence stolen from her. “TAKE HIM AWAY!” The king yelled so loudly the horses in the stalls seemed jumpy. Prince Eric decides “He deserves to be made a show of, cowardly taking advantage of pretty young girls” “Let’s set an example for the rest of the kingdom” King Edward of the New Moon pack stated. All the while Princess Reina was being shielded by the guards and sobbing trying to explain but nothing making sense through her tears. *** So this is where I’ve been since. This dark cold room with a a dirt floor and reinforced cell doors right outside the arena. No food and no water my wolf and I growing weaker. Byron my wolf is missing Reina terribly. I can only tell the night vs day by the smallest gap at the top of the iron cell door where light can barely trickle in. That very moment my cell opens up to the bright Arena. my eyes are still adjusting to the blinding sunlight I’ve been deprived of, while I’m being dragged out to the center. Barely able to focus the next thing I see clearly are Prince Eric’s Shoes. “Look at me in the eyes MUTT!” Prince Eric hissed with his jaw clenched so tight you could see every muscle in his defined jaw. You can tell he is probably a very attractive man when you’re not sitting at his feet. I dare to make eye contact with him and his piercing blue eyes seem to be looking right inside me. “You’ve made a mistake!” I shout. I know we’re to fight, well actually I’m supposed to give in and be executed, but that will not happen.. I hope. I look around to see the arena is completely filled. I see where the king sits and the empty Queens seat but I don’t see Reina! “Where is she!? Where is Reina!” Prince Eric in disbelief knocks me back down, “How DARE you speak her name! After you’ve taken advantage of her like that! A piece of s*** like you deserves to be castrated. You’re lucky that you’re facing me for a quick end.” “Welcome to the show!” The blonde curly haired prince yells to the arena and the crowd roars as the King watches silently. Just the out of the corner of my eye I see a dark haired girl trying to rush past the guards at the entrance. Her long sleeved flowing ivory dress compliments her honey skin and her deep brown eyes meet mine. Her eyes light up with hope when they do because I can feel it. Byron is chanting in me “Mate. Mate. Mate!” And I remembered again it’s Reinas 18th birthday.
