Chapter 37
Doug was next on my list. I sank into the void, thought of my brother and traveled quickly through the ether to him. I found him standing in his office, looking at papers.
There wasn't anyone else in the room. He was alone. Not just alone in the room, but looking lonely. Sad. Kind of like he’d lost his best friend.
I wanted to put a hand on his shoulder, offer comfort. I reached out and my hand went right through him. Funny though, it almost felt like I touched him. There was a sort of electric sensation where my hand should have made contact, and he looked up as if he had felt me, too.
“Callie,” he said, startled.
“Hey, bro. What’s up? Did you miss me?”
“Miss you? I've been worried sick. Where the hell have you guys been?”
