21 Manchester, 1998 I wake up in the back of the restaurant, flat out on a steel table. Han and a couple of other waiting staff stand over me. “What happened?” I ask, feeling a pinch in my side. “I train as nurse,” Yunjin says. “For few months.” I look to my left. There’s a rice bowl on the counter. Inside the bowl, a spent bullet covered in my blood. “You’re a natural,” I say, feeling the stitching around my wound. “I stop the bleeding, but you need doctor.
