"Monster—!" Su Yu screamed frantically. Somehow, he found the strength to tuck his legs in and kick upwards, landing a blow squarely on the green-skinned creature pouncing at him. With both hands outstretched, he grabbed onto the wooden club the creature was swinging down at him. However, he let out a scream of agony.
Except for his left hand, there wasn't the slightest bit of supernatural strength left in him. Although he managed to kick the green-skinned creature, the force of its charge was too strong, sending a shudder through his legs as if they were about to snap.
The injury to his right hand was even worse. The moment he and his left hand gripped the club, he could clearly hear the sound of bones cracking in his right hand.
At least two fingers must have broken.
The pain was excruciating, as anyone could imagine when the bones in one's fingers are broken. Su Yu screamed in agony but clung desperately to the club. The black scales on the back of his left hand surfaced again, and with a surge of supernatural strength, Su Yu instinctively threw a punch.
With a "thud," a mix of green juice, blood, and a green bead exploded from the creature's eye, which was forced out of its socket by the terrifying power.
Su Yu screamed wildly, grabbed the club with a reverse grip, and smashed it down hard on the creature's head.
All the classmates in the classroom stared at Su Yu in stunned disbelief.
Qin Jiagui, who had just managed to rise halfway off the ground, saw Su Yu, covered in blood and looking like a vengeful ghost, clutching the club that originally belonged to the green-skinned creature and smashing it down on its head.
With a crisp "crack," the creature's head shattered like a rotten watermelon, splattering green juice all over Su Yu's hands and face.
From the shattered head, a tiny, black crystalline object flew out and shot into Su Yu's left hand, merging with it so quickly that it disappeared almost instantly.
Su Yu let go of the club and collapsed, staggering as he fell.
Su Yu cried out, rushing over to Su Yu, shaking him desperately, "Su Yu, Su Yu, wake up—"
"Who would've thought, Su Yu cares so much about me…" Su Yu's mind was hazy, and this random thought crossed his mind. Then there was a loud "boom," and a few male and female classmates screamed in terror, snapping Su Yu back to consciousness.
He saw Lei Xin and a few others falling to the ground as the desks that had been piled up collapsed, and the front door of the classroom toppled over.
Finally, the front door was broken down, and the other two green-skinned creatures stopped pounding on the windows and back door. They turned and, along with the creature that had broken through the front door, slowly walked inside.
There were now two bloody, mutilated bodies of green-skinned creatures lying in the classroom, which seemed to make the three creatures slow down, a look of uncertainty in their eyes. They all turned to stare at Su Yu.
It was Su Yu who had killed those two creatures.
Outside, everything seemed to have fallen silent, and the dozen or so remaining people in the classroom could only feel a suffocating darkness descending upon them as the three creatures walked in, fear gripping each of their hearts.
A female student climbed to the window on the other side, staring down at the third floor below with a face full of terror, ready to jump if the creatures charged at her. Falling from the third floor might not kill her, and even if she broke her arms and legs, it would be better than getting her head smashed in.
Some desperately pressed their phones, repeatedly trying to call the police, but there was no signal.
Several male students, trembling and huddled together, clung to chairs and desks, ready to fight for their lives. Their fear had reached such a peak that they no longer knew what fear was.
Some even looked at the back door, wanting to clear away the desks blocking it and escape, but feared that their actions would attract the creatures' attention and make them the first to be attacked.
"Get back." Su Yu gritted his teeth. His right hand, abdomen, legs—his whole body ached, his face contorted in pain. He gritted his teeth and pulled Su Yu behind him with his left hand.
Su Yu stumbled back in terror, falling to the ground. She felt that Su Yu's left hand had an astonishing strength; with just one pull, she was thrown to the floor.
"Ah—" Su Yu cried out in pain as she fell. The three creatures launched their attack almost simultaneously, splitting into three paths to assault Su Yu.
"Run—" Seeing this, several classmates immediately screamed, no longer caring about Su Yu, and fled in all directions.
Only Qin Jiagui shouted in anger, grabbing a chair and throwing it at the three creatures.
Class monitor Lei Rui was torn, her face full of struggle. She looked anxiously at Su Yu, then at the door. She was just as terrified and wanted to escape, but instinctively felt that she shouldn't leave Su Yu behind.
The opportunity to escape was one that Su Yu had created for them.
As the three creatures rushed at him, Su Yu's mind was flooded with fear. He stretched out his left hand, clutching the wooden club he had taken from the previous creature.
As soon as his left hand gripped the club, that powerful force surged out once more. This time, the supernatural strength was even more overwhelming than before.
Two black scales, about the size of half a fingernail, protruded from the back of Su Yu's left hand. Could this be because he had killed two creatures and absorbed their crystals?
A strange thought crossed Su Yu's mind, but he quickly turned and fled, swinging the club under a nearby desk as he went.
The supernatural power erupted, and the desk flew up with a "whoosh," crashing into the two creatures.
Two of the green-skinned creatures halted and blocked the desk with their clubs, while the third circled around and lunged at Su Yu.
Suddenly, Su Yu realized that these creatures weren't very intelligent.
Maybe it was the unimaginable power in his left hand, maybe it was because he had already killed two of the creatures, or perhaps Su Yu had a natural instinct for combat that he hadn't known about. In that moment, his mind raced faster than he could believe. Even he couldn't believe that he was the same Su Yu who frequently failed exams, who his teachers saw as a lost cause.
As the three creatures charged at him, Su Yu could only think of escaping. But after throwing the desk, two of the creatures stopped to block it, leaving him with just one to deal with—a brief window of opportunity, perhaps one or two seconds, maybe three or four. But at that moment, it was just Su Yu and one creature facing each other.
This was an opportunity he couldn't miss. Su Yu charged forward, his left arm surging with power. He had a faint feeling that his strength was now greater than the creature's.
With a "bang," the two clubs collided. The pain in Su Yu's left arm was intense, as if it were about to break, but the creature fared worse. Its hand split open, the club flying from its grasp, and a look of shock and fear appeared on its grotesque face.
Su Yu wouldn't miss this chance. Despite the searing pain in his left arm, he swung the club wildly.
With a "thud," the creature let out a low, pitiful wail as its head shattered, sending it flying backward. A black crystal shot out from its head like a lightning bolt, merging into Su Yu's left hand.
The already powerful supernatural force surged again, growing even stronger. Glancing at the back of his left hand, Su Yu saw another black scale emerging, though this one was only a small fragment, much smaller than the previous two.
"What's going on? Is this creature weaker, or does the crystal's effect diminish after absorbing too many?"
As these strange thoughts crossed Su Yu's mind, the other two creatures, howling in fury, charged at him.
This time, Su Yu was a little slow to react. Though he managed to knock one of the creatures back with a powerful swing, the other struck him with its club.
In the desperate moment, Su Yu instinctively raised his right arm.
With a "thud," the club struck Su Yu's right arm, breaking it instantly. Su Yu screamed in pain, his right arm shattering. Fortunately, his left hand had struck the other creature's club first, sending it flying, and causing Su Yu to stumble back a few steps. This backward movement meant the blow to his right arm wasn't as severe as it could have been.
Otherwise, that club would have turned his right arm into a mangled mess. As it was, he was lucky that only the bones had broken.
Su Yu screamed in agony as the creature, seeing its chance, rushed at him, raising its club to finish him off.
In a wild swing, Su Yu, driven by the pain of his broken right arm, threw his club directly at the creature's head, then lunged at it.
The unleashed power was terrifying. The club knocked the creature's club aside, and Su Yu tackled it to the ground.
His chest erupted in pain as the creature tore away a chunk of flesh with its claws, but at the same time, Su Yu's left fist crashed down.
With a gurgling sound, Su Yu's punch shattered the creature's face, and a fourth crystal was absorbed into his hand.
Finally, the third complete black scale emerged.
