Chapter Twenty: Mourning

3421 Words

Gabriel As I listened to Nikolai reveal Ulysses’s biggest secret, I could feel the uncontrollable rage building deep within my chest. I tried my breathing techniques to keep myself together, to keep myself from completely losing it. But hell! Ulysses had been hiding a demon mate!? Agh! The irony! I wanted to laugh. To scream. To hit. To destroy something! You would think he would have wanted us to win. That he would have supported us more in our endeavors to overrule the demon laws so he could live freely with his demon mate. But instead, he had hidden her away and kept her a secret, to what? To save them? To keep himself from having to face his own misconduct and misdeeds surrounding others in his family who had taken demon mates? No. He hadn’t done it for them. To keep them safe.
