It had been a long day. So much had happened that I couldn’t sleep. I bit my tongue. Arid, the alien himself, was another issue. It was only the third time I had met him, and I kissed him. As much as I tried to blame it on fatigue, a difference in alien atmosphere and shock, nothing rang true. The green alien stirred something inside me. His rough exterior was a complete opposite to the tenderness he had shown me. It helped that his long hair was silky and purple, which was my favorite color.
Arid’s men were nice. I was fed, warm and safe which made me feel like the worst kind of friend. I hadn’t made it to the cellar to get help to save Natalya. I had left Natalya there because the alien was stabbing Tavish.
