THE CASTLE'S SERPENT

1285 Words
Eva paced back and forth, she couldn’t sleep, how can she? Worries gripped her chest, a clutch it hangs with what the king had shared with her. Their unborn child will not inherit the throne, but it would be given to whom it really belongs to. She knows that she isn’t evil, but as of the moment, Eva envisioned a vivid image of her whereas on her forehead, two horns sprouted. She just couldn’t accept it! Had the bloodline who lead Salem before was the sole reason of their downfall? They are the one who abandoned them, they are the one who pay for the sins they have committed. And so what right does the heiress of the throne have for her to claim it again? Lost and drown towards those thoughts, she failed to notice Lia’s presence, her mother. “Eva.” Lia calls. Eva felt her heart jump for a moment as she is not expecting for her to showed up. Her head whipped across to where she was. “M—mother!” She placed her hand on her chest as if trying to ease her heart which is beating fast, drumming across as they thump, louder and much louder. Lia’s forehead cease at the reaction she and earned from the latter. “Is there any problem?” The already old woman asked. And she’s no fool not to see the sudden torn expression, the hesitant movement of her lips as she bit its bottom. “I can read your like an open book.” Lia added. How can she not be? She is her daughter, and she knew everything that concerns her. Lia knows when Eva was lying. She could tell, if she was telling the truth or hiding something. If not, it would be her guts, which would gave her a hint that something has been going on. And right now, it was telling her that she has been bothered by something. Lia earned no response. “Eva?” She calls with a rather much strict face. The old lines, which gave Lia an intimidating aura. “It’s just about my son, mother.” She admitted. Eva walked towards the bed, and take her seat. Behind her, Lia followed suit. “What about your child?” Lia grab her hand, and squeeze it in a comforting manner. “Are you worried that there might be any complications? Or the fact that it would be painful?” Eva shook her head. “No.” She faced her mother. “It was Silla’s prophecy.” “She have a prophecy?” Li was shocked. She haven’t had any idea about it, nor had one of the servants told her that there is a new prophecy she foresaw. Perhaps, it was not meant to be foretold yet. “She have, and it doesn’t bring good for my child, mother.” Eva expressed her worries. “The throne, he won’t inherit Bjorn’s throne.” “But he is the heir!” Lia look incredulously confounded. “How can it not be possible for him to thrive the throne that his father had work for years?” “Silla said that the true heir of Salem would return. That made Lia stop, and just look at Eva stupefied. “And she will claim the throne, that’s what she said. I can’t accept it, mother! Bjorn was the one who fill their absence when they were gone. He carry the burden they should have, and he face the calamity and fixed everything until all went back to normal.” Eva emotionally uttered under her breathe. She couldn’t understand or is she refusing to understand? Reluctant, but Lia could understand where she was coming from. Bjorn did not rose to the throne all by himself. It was the people of Salem who asked for him to lead. His superiority, and his kindness is what had appeal to those who were once hunted as rebels, and never have they regret it. The ruins were flattened, if not replaced, and so the people have a taste of the life, the flourish land as it stretched. They fed on what they buried. They harvest the crops they took care of, thus far, never had an unjust crimes and judgement has been given. That’s what King of King he is, unlike the previous ruler who died as a coward Lord. He runs away from the crime he committed leading for a slavery which took for ages. “We cannot let that happen!” Even Lia was against of the prophecy, but they knew it won’t be able to stop. It is fate and by means of, they stood nothing, they hold no power against it. “But how do we do that, mother?” Eva asked. “I’ll find something, but for now—” Lia’s face hardened. “—I wanted you to rest assured and hold no worries for it will be bad for your son.” “I will, mother.” Just like what she has been told to, Eva tried her hardest, wondering what help would her mother seek, but on her mind she have one thing that was running ahead. If they couldn’t stop it, then they must cut tongue of those who might spread the truth. “Silla.” Eva’s eyes darkened, unbeknownst towards the shadows looming behind her. Draken and Argus watched. “This should be alright.” Argus eyed the darkness until it was sip in, settling inside the Queens heart. As the mentioned of the prophecy, the two God’s has been ordered by Azrael to keep their watch same with Kiro. They had been told to do all means just to stop it from spreading, but being the messenger of death, they hold mischief as their name speaks of. Argus and Draken decided to used Eva. She have more power, and by all means, she can do whatever she would pleas to, and it was easy, it didn’t have them a hard time to poisoned her mind. Eve was a Queen, a mother who would want a better future for her children. “Should I let her summoned somebody for her orders?” Argus asked his brother. “Not yet.” Draken shook his head off. “We still needed to be careful, so that we won’t be seen.” “They are humans—" Argus frowns. “ Not everyone around them was.” Draken cut him off and intrude.” Remember that this time, it would be the last chance where we could make everything’s right, if not we would be thrown, chained and locked up same with the wolves.” The wolves. The wolves whom Salem thought vanished. They disappeared without any trace, when in fact they didn’t. It’s just that Midas do something for the mate who has been taken, and stolen cruelly from him. A sacrifice adherent to the war, which happened for ages. And it was only the God’s who solely know what it is. “But we should act, before he find out the she was coming...again.” Argus trailed of. “Have you forgotten?” Draken lifted his head. “Fate don’t play its game fair, not this time.” He chuckled. “How can his darkness exist on her brooding light that was meant to kill him?” Full with meaning he said. The paired mate, the two person, one who gets reborn to kill, and prior the other who can decided whether to be killed or kill her, because she should had been dead for a long time ago, even before she gets born. Leandra.... Leandra, the true ruler of Salem. @cycy
