Chapter 6 Alfonso's Grand Entrance

1101 Words
Alfonso's POV: As I strode into the Aurora Group building, all eyes were on me. Respect, admiration, nervousness—emotions I've seen countless times etched on faces. Yet, above all, there was fear. I'm the youngest and most formidable Alpha of the Conte family. This alone tells the tale of my ascent, a journey not of fairy tales but of intrigue and bloodshed. I couldn't care less about those stares. Ever since that woman died seven years ago, I stopped caring about anything. Martha... Seven years ago, I sacrificed everything for her! I left my family, surrendered my status—just to be with her! And what did she repay me with? Lies and betrayal! I loved her deeply, even after her deceit. Over these seven years, thoughts of her lingered, but each memory of her betrayal twisted love into searing hate, tormenting me! She'll never know; she died in a car accident, a tragic end. Otherwise, I could have made her life more miserable! Made her pay for her deceit! The elevator arrived, pulling me from my thoughts as I stepped in. It had been six long months since I'd last seen Arthur. Arthur, my twin and the only soul who truly got me. Even Kate, my true Luna who unmasked Martha's vile nature, couldn't bridge that gap. I loved her, but we didn't share that deep connection. Despite being twins, Arthur and I were worlds apart. While I craved power, Arthur's heart beat for art. I'd claw my way up the family ladder, while he'd do anything to break free from its grasp. But he was the only one who understands me; he was my brother. The elevator doors slid open, revealing Arthur, who was waiting for me. His suit was slightly rumpled, perfectly in line with his laid-back style. "Hey, Alfonso." We hugged, and as I glanced at Arthur's smiling face, I saw through his well-crafted facade. Was that a hint of nervousness I detected? I played it cool, giving his shoulder a pat. "Settling in alright?" Arthur sighed, "You know, it's just the usual meetings. Shareholder meetings, cocktail parties, charity galas... all those fake smiles, everyone only cares about their stock prices, yet they talk about charity and art. Every time they flaunt their ridiculous art opinions, only God knows how hard I have to try not to laugh..." Once Arthur started talking, he wouldn't stop, just like when we were kids. We grew up as orphans, Arthur and I. In this cutthroat family jungle, we only had each other. Oh, and there's Tony. If he hadn't raised us, we would've been devoured long ago. "Are you even listening, Alfonso?" Arthur looked at me suspiciously. "Honestly? Not really." I joked, and Arthur pouted, making me burst into laughter. "Come on, Arthur, stop complaining. If they really get on your nerves, just go ahead and lose your temper. With me around, you don't need to be afraid." Arthur sighed, "I can't always be your sidekick, can I?" "You're definitely not my sidekick." I patted his shoulder. "You're my brother!" "Well, I hope others see it that way too." I was about to say more when Arthur's phone suddenly rang. He answered it, said a few words, and frowned. "There's some trouble downstairs, I might need to check it out." "Need any help?" I asked casually, folding my hands behind my head. "Ha ha." Arthur let out a dry laugh, "Absolutely not." He stormed off, full of determination. Well, teasing him was fun, and I definitely enjoyed it. It had been so long since Arthur and I had seen each other, so long that I'd forgotten how relaxed I could feel around him. Lately, I've had too many worries, which made me miss... The elevator suddenly chimed. Could Arthur be back already? I turned around in surprise, and then I saw a woman. My mind was like a hurricane, storms and thunder roaring in my head! ***** Olivia stared at the man in front of her. She felt as though she'd been hit by a sledgehammer, leaving her dizzy and nearly paralyzed. The man before her was a stranger, but why did the sight of him cause her such heartache! Olivia stared at him intensely, feeling as if a fire was burning in her chest, making her want to scream at him. She couldn't quite explain it, but the feeling was bizarrely intense. When she first encountered Arthur, a similar sensation had washed over her. But compared to now, she had been as calm as a monk in meditation. This time, she managed not to faint. Olivia was immensely relieved. "Hello, I'm here to get my phone..." Olivia fought to tame the storm of emotions raging inside her, trying to keep her voice as steady as possible. The man remained motionless, as if oblivious to her words, his gaze locked onto hers. Olivia's emotions surged to a fever pitch. For some reason, she didn't want to back down in front of this man. She met his gaze head-on, refusing to flinch. Their eyes locked in a fierce battle, as if ready to ignite a spark. On closer inspection, this man and Arthur were strikingly similar—almost identical! Yet, his hair was a stark black, contrasting with Arthur's golden locks. Moreover, their auras couldn't have been more different. Arthur radiated a gentle warmth, like the comforting embrace of a springtime sun. This man, however, was pure danger, like the unforgiving chill of the Arctic, compelling one to keep their distance. Olivia had no desire to engage further with him. She had spotted her phone, but unfortunately, it was on the low table right in front of him. With a deep breath, she strode to the table, ignoring his presence, and snatched up her phone. As she turned, he seized her arm, yanking her into his embrace. Olivia barely managed a gasp before his scorching breath enveloped her, pulling her into his solid, burning hold, making resistance seem impossible. Yet, her rational mind screamed at her to resist! "What are you doing, sir!" Olivia shouted, but he had already ensnared her in a vice-like embrace. His grip was so intense, as if he intended to meld her into his very essence. The fiery embrace instantly turned Olivia's knees to jelly, her mind a chaotic whirl, incapable of forming coherent thoughts. A familiar sensation surged from her heart, tempting her to surrender entirely, to let him have his way... Ding! The elevator doors slid open, and Olivia looked up, locking eyes with Arthur's stunned gaze. "What the hell is going on?!"
