Molly was born in a remote orphanage in eastern Zalvoria called "Happy Orphanage."
But despite its name, there was nothing happy about it.
According to the director, Molly's mother had abandoned her there right after she had been born.
And the old caretaker told her that this wasn't the first time—her mother had already left several older siblings at the orphanage, all of whom had since been adopted.
The orphanage was rundown, supplies were scarce, and the weather was always dreary, with a constant overcast gloom.
In Molly's memory, she rarely felt full.
Meals were mostly mashed potatoes, vegetable salad, and a bit of meat sauce, with slightly better food only on Christmas or for prayer gatherings.
