Chapter Eight: Breaking the Barriers

"Are you ready?" Julian inquired for the nth time, and Fresh was not in the mood to answer but he respond with a nod as he slipped on the shoes; the older male rested deeply. "It's okay, we can't go if you can't face them yet," he replied before taking a seat beside the younger. Fresh shook his head because he wanted to go on, and it was also the first time he had the confidence to go see them. "No, we're going," the younger said obstinately. Julian sighed then left the house first and to get the car, while Fresh stood up and took a deep breath, telling himself that he could handle it then followed his older brother. While on the way, he quietly listened to every piece of radio music. "It seems that there's a lot has changed in you since you met that mayor's son," Julian murmured in anticipation while driving. "Are you jealous? You're not my only buddy anymore," the younger male taunted, making the older chuckled, "No, I'm just impressed that you have a friend outside other than Mina and me. Do you remember last night?" Fresh almost choked as he remembered what occurred last night. How come Mina was feeding Spencer like a child last night, Fresh let him because he brought a colleague once so they were delighted that Spencer was going to stay over but Fresh didn't allow him. They have arrived at the cemetery after a half-hour delay due to traffic on the way. Fresh didn't notice because he was too preoccupied with his thoughts. he had just returned to his trance when the vehicle came to a halt. "Are you sure about this?" Julian said for the nth time, "we're already here; we can cancel it if you like." Fresh firmly shook his head keep insisting to fo this Julian unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car to register; before Fresh followed, he checked his own reflection in the side mirror. He needed to do something to alleviate the guilt he was feeling, After registering, Fresh let Julian lead the way as he walked silently behind him, clutching the flower that he remembered being mom's favorite. When he encounter other people who visit the graves of their family, he can't help but grin. "Here we are," Julian whispered as they have came to a halt in front of a tomb. It felt as if the younger male was taken aback to see familiar faces and grins.They are people he will never forget and he keep missing them every day "Mommy, Daddy" he said quietly. His older brother stepped aside so he could see them. Mama, despite her youth, smiled as if nothing was wrong, and Papa did the same. It appeared as if Fresh already knew who he was descended from. "I'm going to leave you here first. If you have any concerns, please do not forget to call me. " Julian lightly patted him on the shoulder before leaving, and he knelt to lay the flower he was carrying. "Hi mom, hi dad," Fresh grinned a bit, "I'm sorry if I just visit both of you just now that I gained the nerve. Despite the fact that I've been terrified to visit here in recent years....." he sniff because he can't stop sobbing and finally he simply felt his tears slowly trickling from his eyes. "....I keep blaming myself for the accident; perhaps the first person who adopted me was correct, I'm the one who brings bad luck into your lives." he cry helplessly at their graves, feeling Fresh don't deserve to cry for them. "I hope I just died with you, right?" He felt an embrace come over him, he looked up and see the unexpected person to be here. "Ssh, it's okay, you can cry if you want," Spencer reassured him, and he recognized him right away because of his scent. Fresh just kept crying while Spencer spoke soothing words to him. They remained in that position until the other male calmed down. Spencer let him go, "Are you okay?" he questioned, and Fresh instantly nodded, "as much as I want to squeeze your face because of your cuteness, I'll wipe your face first. Your eyes will be puffy, you'll be ugly now," Spencer grumbled while cleaning the other's face with his handkerchief. "That makes you even cuter," he said with a smile. He helped Fresh to rise up, he handed him a bottle of water, I accepted "here drink this," and Fresh asked him after drinking. "What are you doing here?" before averting his gaze. Fresh embarrassed because the other male witnessed his predicament. "I went to see my grandfather," Spencer explained, pointing to the grave not far from Fresh's parents'. "I saw you go in with Julian and was about to approach you, but I thought I should leave you alone first," he added. Later, a man in a black suit approached them and said, "Young master, your daddy is looking for you," after bowing. Spencer's mood abruptly changed, "I don't intend to leave you here, but it appears that I'm needed at home," he stood up and patted his pants remove the dirt. Fresh smiled and said, "No, it's okay, thank you for this." He scratched the back of his head and said, "Uhm, I guess we'll just go to school." Fresh nodded in response to the okay sign. He saw him turn around, about to depart, when he abruptly halted, as if he remembered something. He took out his phone and returned his attention to Fresh. "I keep forgetting to ask, but might I please have your phone number?" the other male took his phone and typed before returning it to him, "No late night calls," Fresh reminded him, and he signed okay before fleeing with his bodyguard. He stayed in the cemetery for a few hours before leaving. Mina made a delicious dinner and they talked about Julian's Christmas plans. "Let's visit Mom, miss her," Julian suggested, and the younger male immediately agreed. Of course, he would be very grateful to Mom; if it hadn't been for her, he would still be in the foster home. Fresh was about to take a shower after eating when his phone rang. It was just Spencer, and he reminded him to save his number. When this good friend of his knew better, Fresh shook his head. he was about to respond when there was a soft knock on the door. "Come in," He said softly, and Mina entered. "This is your medicine," she said, placing a tray with a glass of milk on the bedside table, "Thank you, I'll drink that later," he said as she exited his room. Fresh finished showering, took his medication, huddled deeply before trying to sleep, as well as his pains seemed to go. Fresh must progressively dismantle the barrier that he have built.
