As was our custom we arrived early at the bar. The guests/customers were starting to arrive gradually. As we were going to share the tables with our group "the Family" Francis put us on the couches to be more comfortable. On New Year's Eve the number of tables was reduced and the center of the room became a dance floor with the few tables surrounding the space.
I sat in the corner of the sofa and enjoyed the atmosphere that was forming. All the joy and excitement of the new year was etched into everyone's faces. It was hard to sit around too long. People were coming and as I already knew virtually everyone it was impossible not to warmly greet everyone. Joy hung in the air and I was finally feeling happy.
I didn't know what was waiting for me tonight but my little heart felt big and full of emotion. I couldn't help but wonder if Sean would be there, but I didn't feed too many hopes or expectations. I felt calm and serene and ready for whatever came. My only goal was to appreciate the moment and the opportunities that might arise. And that's what I did.
The night was still heating up, there was still a good time to midnight and people were still arriving. Although there was already some excitement and already some people were entertained dancing I remained seated, this time in a poof super relaxed and excitedly talking to walter, one of the members of the group when a slight feeling of warmth invaded my body causing me small chills all over my body. I didn't have to think long and hard to know what it meant.
Sean was walking into the bar.
I tried to hold my anticipation for his presence. I didn't feel ready to face him, but I tried with all my might to maintain the tranquility I was previously feeling. As soon as he passed the second door, Sean went straight to our table.
I took a deep breath when I felt him close and received him with a loving smile. His face was serious, but when he approached me he drew a small smile that matched mine.
As it was his habit, he greeted all who were there beginning for me.
I was wearing a silver top in which the back was only supported by thin straps leaving part of my back on display.
When Sean put his hand on the bottom of my back pulling me towards him I felt him gently caressing my skin. My hand rested on his shoulder and I noticed me copying his gesture caressing his neck and hair as I knew he loved it. Our bodies were dangerously close and I could feel the warmth emanating from him as his intoxicating scent made my body give in to its power as I felt his lips gently landing on my face
The moment lasted only a few seconds but it seemed like an eternity.
When Sean left me to greet (not so affectionately) the rest of the staff it was as if suddenly the cold of the night was ingrained in my body. I sulked a little when I lost the heat of his body.
Walter kept talking to me, but my concentration wasn't the same anymore. I couldn't show the same enthusiasm as before and he must have realized that because shortly after he went to other friends and I sat in my poof feeling a little embarrassed but not for long.
As soon as he finished greeting everyone Sean grabbed a poof and sat next to me again putting his hand on the bottom of my back with his fingers passing through the straps of my top caressing my skin. Looking tenderly into my eyes, he asked how my life was going. He wanted to know everything about me and what I'd been doing all that time I was missing from the bar.
I felt my face blushing and giving a slightly shy smile I looked away. When I was about to answer, Beth grabs my hand and asks me to dance. I still tried to argue that I still didn't feel the perfect environment to dance but she ended up dragging me to the center of the room.
I gave Sean an apology look, and there I was.
While dancing I tried to look at Sean but couldn't see where he was. I knew I couldn't complain to my sister because if it wasn't for her, I'd be home alone, but at that moment I couldn't stop sending her deadly looks for taking me away from Sean when I was so close to him and feeling his caresses on my skin.
The music was even lively but I had not yet entered the spirit of animation. Richard (another one of the many present) joined me and Beth dancing. Sean got up to go put his blazer in the cloakroom and went right through our middle. Richard grabbed Sean's arm and told him to join us in dancing and he said he would do it when he got back. My eyes kept as much as they could fixed on him as he walked away but quickly stopped seeing him among people. I didn't realize when he approached us and grabbed me so that we dance clinging together. This time it was Beth who threw me a fulminant look once Richard took advantage of the cue and did the same to Bete who did not liked at all. I didn't care, on the contrary. I was in the clouds dancing completely glued to him and feeling his hand running through my back. We were silent as we danced to seize the moment.
Whenever there was a chance there we were dancing together, very clingy and very slowly.
The feeling of being so close to Sean was simply indisputable. There are no words clear enough to describe what it feels like when we are in the arms of the one we really love and the truth was really that. I loved Sean with all the strength of my being and everything I had been through just helped me realize it even more. He thought I was still dating Felix, didn't know I'd already broken up with him a few weeks ago but that didn't stop him from grabbing me and walking around while my kissing neck we danced.
To get better access and more easily kiss me on the neck Sean turned my back to him crossing my arms in front of me. I would recline my head by landing it on his shoulder and that's when his lips ran through my skin coming down from my ear to my shoulder where he gave a gentle bite. It may sound strange, but I loved it every time he did that.
In one of those moments I was surprised by his whisper in my ear.
"Leave your i***t boyfriend and stay with me."
