Still strangers

Elle I stared blankly into his face and wondered if I heard him right. "Did you just say..." He looked down dejected, confirming he indeed planted the snake. Just perfect. He thought it was alright to use my fears against me but how could I be so stupid? He wasn't at fault here. He just used the information which I had given him. I was the blabbermouth who had revealed everything about myself to him and what did I know about him, almost nothing. The urge to seriously hurt him was there but I doubted I had the strength. "Get out!" I calmly retorted. "What?" "I said get out!" I repeated. He took a deep breath, clearly frustrated. I didn't care. All I wanted was to get him far away. "I didn't mean to hurt you   you know I love you." I cringed watching him approach me despite my warnings. I tightened my hands on the silky sheet as memories of the bathroom incident washed through me. "Stay back," I warned, feeling lightheaded and panicky. "Calm down." He pacified but I was having none of it. The images came faster. I could hardly breathe. "Stay away from me!" I screeched, shaking in spasm. My noise got the attention of the Nurse who burst in. "Is anything wrong?" She asked me. Seeing I was in no mood to talk, She instructed Alec to leave. I saw him drop a rose flower on the chair and exit. The nurse came to my bedside to check my vitals before telling me to rest. "Does my mom know I'm here?" I asked. "She's with the doctor. She'll be here shortly." She disclosed before heading back for the door. When she left, I tried to clear my head. I was scared, afraid of a harmless flower lying on the chair far off from where I was resting. I regretted not telling the nurse to dispose of it. I closed my eyes and took slow deep relaxing breath. The door opened and the nurse peeped in. "Your mom is here." I sat up. Mom came in, her eyes heavy with tears. "How are you doing?" She inquired, taking her seat. Honestly, I suddenly felt a rush of relief. Why? My mom literally squashed the plastic rose Alex left behind. "Better," I affirmed. I really didn't want to remember anything about Alex so I changed the subject. "Is Doctor Ethan here?" This was his hospital so he had to be here. I wondered why he hadn't bothered to check on me. "Yes. He accompanied me here." Mom disclosed, "Such an angel." Strange. He followed her here but he didn't come in. He was a tangled personality. Well, he did see you naked? Was he perturbed about that? He saved my life. I would literally worship him. His d**k, You mean. My mischievous smirk got my mum's attention. "You're oddly cherry. Is there something you're not telling me?" Her furrowed brows gave me something to laugh about. "Can't I just be happy? I could have died." Mum dragged the chair towards the bed and grasped my hand tightly. "You're alive and frankly I wouldn't know what I'd do if anything had happened to you." She wept just spilling her heart, "I'm glad there is a guardian angel watching you. Your father is always watching." A tear escaped my eye when she said this. Father believed in fate and the almighty. I lost my belief when I lost him. It was a wonder why the good ones always had terrible endings. "It's okay mum." I hugged her. For the first time in a long time, I felt his presence. Maybe he was watching, My guardian angel. *** Ethan   Watching her smile made my heart soar. I figured it was time I left.  For unexplainable reasons, I barely slept last night. She was all I could think of. Gladly, I could put whatever I felt aside and drown myself in work. "Good morning Dr. Hale." Yasmin, my main nurse greeted me, handing me my lab coat. "Good morning to you too. Any patients?" I asked sliding on the coat. "None." She replied. I sighed. Fate obviously had something else in store. Now I would spend all my time alone and thinking about her. "Thank you, Yasmin." My office was the same. The smell. It was all the same. I kind of missed home but there was no going back now, was there? I collapsed on my chair and focused on absolutely nothing. Well, A derailing thought from Elle to Agatha. The hate couldn't just outweigh her. I badly wanted her off my mind. God knows the stupid things I could do if she showed up. I remembered last night, touching her slippery skin, Colliding with her pink chewable lips, our tongues in sync. "Doctor?" Yasmin stood by the door, puzzled and concerned. I wasn't aware of when she came in or how long she had been there. How deeply rooted was Elle in me? "Yes?" "Elle Rich is here to see you." Peter twitched just hearing her name. No... I had to show control, Be in control. She was probably just here to thank me. Be sane Ethan. "Let her in." I directed, composed. A minute later, Elle walked in. Those Jade eyes teasing me. She was clad in a halter-style blouse, matchstick jeans and ballet flats to match. Damn, I wanted her naked so bad. Since when are you so good at descriptions? Elle took her seat seeing how tongue-tied I was. "Since you wouldn't come to see me, I decided to come." I didn't reply. It was for the best. I was going to say something stupid.. or do something equally foolish. Nonetheless, she continued, "You don't talk much. Really different from the doctor I thought I knew." She was right. I was in her place presently. Still, I maintained control and my control, I maintained silence. Elle stopped briefly, her eyes scanning me for answers. "Are you flustered about last night?" She asked. "What do you mean?" "I mean, I was naked and all... I don't feel ashamed and you've seen me naked before. I don't think it's any different." Just the mention of last night brought back the beautiful memories. I chortled, "It's not about last night." "So what is it about?" She crossed the line. She wanted answers. Answers I wasn't willing to give but I couldn't resist her voice. I headed for the door and sealed it. If you go through there is no going back. The warning was crystal clear but I was tired of keeping this part of me hidden. She didn't flinch. In fact, I'd say she was calm, eerily calm. "It's about you," I confessed. "What about me?" I could tell she was playing along. She knew what was coming. "That day when you told me I distract you, The truth is it made me smile. I loved the effect I had on you but lately, you've been giving me that same effect." My revelation was a quirky one. I doubted she even understood all I just spewed out. Gladly, she hadn't run out in sheer terror. I could lose my job and self-respect. For what? A woman... Elle studied me knowingly before speaking, "Are you saying I distract you?" "More than that," I confessed. I hesitantly looked down at her. The swirls of emotion I saw there made me gasp. Pure desire.  She wanted this as much as I did. However, before I could ponder about it, Lust yanked me on her and I covered my mouth with hers in a hungry kiss. As our lips crushed together, I felt like I was walking on air. It was magic. *** The news report was very interesting today. A girl rescued from drowning in her bathroom. Just wow... I take a sip of my wine and observe the scene. My eyes catch an enthralling sight. "Well well... The devil's in Los Angeles." To be continued...
