Ann stretched gently, still lying in bed in the morning.The sheets were warm. The room smelled of baby lotion and Richard’s cologne. The baby had woken up earlier but fallen back asleep after feeding, curled up in his little crib next to their bed. She turned to her side and saw Richard watching her with a lazy smile on his face. “Morning, beautiful,” he whispered. Ann smiled sleepily. “Good morning, husband.” He chuckled and pulled her close for a soft kiss. “Still getting used to hearing that.” Ann nodded, resting her head against his chest. “Me too… but I like it.” For a few peaceful minutes, they just lay there, listening to the baby’s tiny snores, feeling the silence between them not empty, but full.
