It had been two months since the wedding. Life was finally calm. Ann woke up early, as usual, to the soft sounds of her baby giggling in the crib next to their bed. Richard was still asleep, one arm loosely wrapped around her waist. She smiled, kissed his cheek, and sat up. The baby stood holding the crib rail, babbling excitedly when he saw her. Ann picked him up, pressing a kiss to his soft cheek. “Good morning, little sunshine,” she whispered. Downstairs, the kitchen smelled of fresh coffee and toast.
