CHAPTER 3: TEMPTATION AND TENTION

1461 Words
ADRIAN'S POV Today is work though I don't feel like going to work, I just want to lie on my bed and do nothing, working as a freelancer has its good sides but I have got to go to work today, I work remotely but sometimes my supervisor does call me in, that man is torn on my flesh, he has been hard on me lately and complain about my job but I'm good at what I do and I always make it perfect and flawless, but he will still find something he does not like about it, I won't let him get to me cos I know I'm good at what I do. This evening I would meet with my friends, Dorian said he has something he wants for Azura and I know, I know he just wants to brag about his wild night again. I can't wait for this meeting to be over so I can walk out the door, "Mr. Adrian what do you think" That is what got my attention back to the present. OMG, I wasn't paying attention to the meeting "Ahem" I cleared my throat looking around, "I think all he said is a good idea I can work on the design if given all proper details" I said without really knowing what they were talking about. My supervisor looked at me like he knew I wasn't following. After the meeting, he asked me to wait behind. "Adrian, we always ask you to come to the office when we are about to embark on a big project and today I can see you weren't paying attention in the meeting. What's going on with you? You know you can tell me anything," he said. I looked at him, my expression carefully unreadable. My striking green eyes, the ones people always seemed to get lost in gave away more than I liked, but I wasn't about to let him see through me. I ran a hand through my dark brown waves, slightly tousled, the kind of hair that always looked effortless, no matter how little I tried. The cool air of the office brushed against my smooth, golden skin, and I shifted under his stare, suddenly feeling too exposed. We weren't that close, so why should I open up to him about my personal? When I did not say anything, he stepped closer, his eyes flicking over me like he was searching for something. I knew that look, I'd seen it before. People tended to stare at me just a little too long as if trying to figure out what made me so distracting. Maybe It was the way my slim but toned frame fit perfectly into the tailored shirt I was wearing or maybe it was the way my lips full, soft, and naturally pink always seemed to be slightly parted like I was caught mid-breath Then, without hesitation, he placed his hands on my lap. I stiffened. I knew I affected people whether it was intentional or not. It wasn't just my face, my body, or the way I carried myself, it was the energy I gave off, the kind that made people want to reach out, to touch, to take. But right now I didn't want to be noticed. I just want to disappear. "You don't have to be shy about telling me anything," he said smoothly, his voice dipping into something almost familiar. "I can help you with anything, just name it, and it's done." I swallowed, keeping my expression calm, even as my heart pounded. "I'm not going through anything and I don't need your help with anything. I'm all good" I said shifting slightly, hoping he would get the message. My voice was even, controlled but the way his eyes lingered told me he wasn't convinced. "Come on, Adrian you don't have to be this way with me. You know exactly what I'm talking about, let's make us work. Adrian, come on," he said Us? There was never an us. There never would be. I took a slow breath and stood up. No smirk, no teasing remarks just silence. Then, without another word, I walked away. I'm tired of all of them giving me all this attention just to get to my pants, you can see it in their eyes that all they want to do is eat me up, and in a way my body reacts to those looks maybe because its been awhile I got laid. I think is high time I start paying more attention to Azura's words; I need to get laid before I start losing it, I know I have this effect on people, I'm eye candy that you can look away from but I'm trying to subdue this beast within me, if I want to let lose I want to do it with some I know can handle me better. Meeting with my friends had been the only thing I was looking forward to after the event of today with my supervisor, I can't still believe he said that to me, That evening I met with my friends at the hookah lounge, where the dimly lit, with soft neon glows tracing the intricate patterns on the walls. The air was thick with the sweet scent of flavored smoke and a low sensual beat thrummed in the background. A group of guys lounged in a VIP corner, their laughter occasionally breaking through the hazy atmosphere. I settled into the plush cushions of our booth, the smooth leather cool against my skin. Azura was already there, stirring her cocktail with a deliberate slowness, while Dorian took a long drag from the hookah exhaling a cloud of blueberry mint smoke like he owned the place. "Finally," Dorian drawled, flicking his gaze to me with a knowing smirk. "Thought you got lost in some guy's arms on the way here." I rolled my eyes, grabbing a drink from the tray before answering. "Not tonight." Azura scoffed. "Which means soon?" Dorian laughed, setting the hookah pipe down as he leaned in. "Speaking of... I have a lot to tell you guys" his grin was devilish, the kind that usually meant bad decisions and no regrets. "Let me guess," I said dryly taking a sip. "You broke another straight man?" "Worse," Dorian said, his eyes glinting with mischief. "This one, not only was he gay, he was a virgin" Azura nearly choked on her drink. "Dorian, for God's sake....." "Oh, don't start," Dorian cut in. "It was a service, really and let me tell you, innocence is highly overrated." He stretched, looking entirely too pleased with himself. "Gosh, I haven't been handled like that in a while. The next morning, my back was sore and I couldn't even properly wash that area well." Azura made a face, pushing the hookah pipe away as if it had suddenly been contaminated. "And that's supposed to be a flex?" "it is when you're me," Dorian said' winking. I just shook my head, amusement tugging at the corners of my lips. Dorian was shameless, always had been and so was Azura. Azura leaned forward fixing him with a pointed look "When was the last time you went for your shot?" her voice was smooth but edged with concern "Are you sure it's not almost time? Because you just let some guy finish inside you without knowing his health status" Dorian waved him off with a lazy hand "Relax, I know what I'm doing" Azura wasn't convinced, her eyes flicked to me searching for backup, I just nodded because deep down we all knew Dorian lived like he was untouchable and so did Azura but sometimes she had the motherly concern For a moment the air felt heavier, the weight of unspoken words setting between us. Then Dorian, ever the one to break tension took another long drag and exhaled, watching the smoke swirl above us. "Anyway," he said smirking again. "Enough about me. Adrian, when was the last time you got laid? Because if you keep walking around looking like that, someone's gonna snap and take a bite" I sighed, dragging a hand through my hair. This was going to be a long night. Had to tell them everything that happened at work and they were furious, Dorian couldn't stop chewing my head out with I should have given him a sounding slap when he placed his hands on my lap, Azura told me to contact HR, and report the case as harassment, but I don't want to do any of that, that would simple means drawing more attention to myself and I don't want. My friends might be wild and crazy but I know they have my back always, that alone gives me peace.
