Ellie hopped into the back seat of Adrian’s friend’s car. Her hair and shirt already soaked from the downpour.
“Hi, I’m Mitch,” said the driver. He was good looking, muscular with blonde hair and brown eyes.
“I’m Ellie. Thank you for stopping.” She was pretty sure it hadn’t been Adrian’s idea. He was pissed at her, again.
“It was his decision.” Mitch tipped his head at Adrian and then pulled out onto the road.
“Oh.”
“Wow, you sound surprised.” Mitch glanced at Adrian.
“No. Not really. I mean, I am but only because I know he’s mad at me.” She leaned forward toward Adrian. “Oh, your poor face.” A bruise was already forming on his cheek and there was a large gash under his eye. She touched right below his cut. “You need something cold on that and the cut needs to be clea—”
